iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot

5.0 out of 5 stars It is a robot and it still works!, 30 Mar 2008
Ok we all are a bit suspicious of fancy technology. I bought this as a gadget and was surprise to find it really...works. If you have a back problem, don't despair. Just press the clean button and Roomba will do the rest. If spends about 35 minutes cleaning a room (a lot more than I would) and goes round corners, under furniture and places that I would happily miss when I clean a room. Cleaning it can be a bit messy since you have to disassemble the bottom of it if hairs are caught so maybe not very good for dog lovers. It is an excellent talking point as well although most of my friends think its another one of my useless gadgets. Their loss...

How be Great Communicator (Your Coach in a Box)

3.0 out of 5 stars Simplistic but not without merit., 7 Sep 2006
Interesting title but the content just does not deliver. The coach spends too much time trying to persuade of the value of good communication but does not go in enough depth on techniques. It is not however a work without merit, it is just too long winded for what it wants to...communicate!

Cyprus: A Modern History
Cyprus: A Modern History

5.0 out of 5 stars Well researched and balanced approach on a contentious topic., 6 Sep 2006
It is difficult to find such an objective book about Cyprus. The author based this work mostly on his own private research and drawing on his experience as a British diplomat, he presents a comprehensive picture about the modern history and politics of Cyprus. His language is clear and his arguments are pointed. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Sony NVU50TG.EUR Portable GPS Navigation System
Sony NVU50TG.EUR Portable GPS Navigation System

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good when compared with the competition, 3 July 2006
I bought this item six months ago, as a second GPS. I had a Tom Tom GO 300 which was appropriated by my wife so I thought to by this Sony because of the TMC. I must say, the experience of using this Sat Nav is not very good. The normal route selection is usually bizarre. I used it many times in London and it will find the longest most complicated way to take you were you want to go. As for the TMC, it is does not always come on. I found myself many times stuck in traffic, because the TMC had no reception (yes, the aerial was installed appropriately). Another point is that it does take a while to enter the destination because the menu is not intuitive at all. It is a bit of a job initially to navigate around the menu until you can get going. And it doesn't have the option to install the safety cameras as in the Tom Tom. I am sorry to be so negative but if I knew what I know now I would not have bought this item.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but heavy read., 17 Dec 2003
I don’t want to put this book down, mainly as a matter of respect to the author. Clearly, he has done a lot of work researching his field and producing each chapter. The result though? This is the difficult bit. The book is very difficult to read and even more difficult to understand. The content is presented in such a way as if it is a revision for someone with previous knowledge in the field and is surely not for beginners. Even the printers could have done a bit more work to make it more user friendly. As a reference book though, it excels.

5.0 out of 5 stars ITS BETTER FOR WHAT IS FOR: A BASIC INTRODUCTION TO PR, 7 Dec 2003
This book was a pleasant surprice. It has structure, a goal, avoids waffle and actually teaches something useful. At the end, it gives a very helpful guide of websites relating to PR. For an absolute beginner in the field like me, it is highly recommended.

The Art of Cross Examination
The Art of Cross Examination

5.0 out of 5 stars An insider describing what is all about., 26 Nov 2003
It is not often such as honest description of what cross examination is about and how it is performed is given. I would particularly recommend this book to Medical Doctors who so often recently, end up in the witness box and quickly get 'torn apart' by Barristers after a few masterful strikes. This book is much more useful and fun to read when you compare it to the ones recommended by Medical Journals; these books usually tell you a few tips on how to dress up and prepare for the court but nothing substantive on the ‘insights’ of the process.

Learn Chinese Now! 9 (PC/Mac)

1.0 out of 5 stars DIFFUCULT TO SAY WHICH IS MORE COMPLICATED, 26 Nov 2003
Its bad enough deciding to learn Chinese. On top of the language difficulties, having to find your way around this software does not help. The whole programme appears to be without structure and I am not exaggerating when I say that I couldn't figure out where to begin, even after a few honest attempts. There must be an easier way to learn!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A useful guide on Language and Behaviour Profile, 26 Nov 2003
This book can be useful for a range of professionals; from sales representatives, to clinical therapists. Mostly though, it can be incredibly helpful for Human Resource Managers during the selection and recruitment process. Don't expect huge insights to the workings of the human mind; rather a clear explanation on how what we say can be used to predict patterns of behaviour particularly in the working environment. An easy read, but not for everybody.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT BORING, 12 Jun 2003
If you enjoy reading books that are structured like dictionaries, this is your pick. From A to Z, all the marketing concepts explained. This book has a bit of an appendix feel (not the human one!) and can be difficult to read. A not so successfully marketed efford?
