5.0 out of 5 stars he best, 18 Mar. 2011
The Maag interpretation is fantastic. I have compared whit the Jarvi, Kleber and Bernstein
interpretation and this is my preferred in any aspect. The tempi are similar to the ones of Bernstein
but the music flows better with more legato and dinamyc range. There is more warmth and passion then in
the Jarvi's ones and a different readings of the different parts than in the Kleber.
The recording is of hi-quality with a clear listening of the varios instruments with a well balance
between string and brass. Al the delais results clear and at the same time well mixed between them.
The differnece anyhow is how Maag feel Beethoven in away you are convinced this is the real Beethoven.
Regards

Rameau: Dardanus
Rameau: Dardanus

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb music, 31 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Rameau: Dardanus (Audio CD)
This is a 'Tragedie lyriques in five act' and belong to the major operas witten in mature age by J.P.Rameau.
The plot is quite bizarre and macth with the taste of thr people at those times (1739).
The story in very short words, is a contrasted love between a human lady and the god of the heaven Dardanus, soon of Jupiter.
Even if Rameau was not wery lucky with the librettist in general (he never pay for the libretto) the story is quite
involving and make the heard experience very interesting.
For who didn't know the style, there is not a clear distinction betwen arias and recitativo but all is elegantly blended
in a way the words are well adapted to the music and viceversa. The final outcome is that all flows very
smooth and pleasant to the listener. I like very much this kind of opera so different from the peaks and valley for example of
Handel or Vivaldi. I like them also but this one is less fatiguing at the end.
The music is always superb and well played and recorded. The quality of the sound is excellent.
I know there is a more recent version from Minkowsky , probably better (this is of the 1980) but
this is equally of fully satisfation.
Recommended .

4.0 out of 5 stars mixed stile, 2 May 2010
This review is from: Vivaldi: Concerti (Audio CD)
At the end it deserve the price but the quality of the interpeters is very spread from the excellence (Alessandrini) to the sufficence (Giardino Armonico).
While the first disc is an outstanding and lively Vivaldi the second suffers of some indecision and bold interpretation af an otherwise beatiful pieces (example Il Gardellino). The third disc is interesting but not so appealing like the first one.

5.0 out of 5 stars well played, 2 May 2010
I like how the quartet are played: very clean sound, transparent instrument texture and optimally registered. The point that pops up is the quality of the sound. Very recommended .

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful sound, 2 May 2010
This review is from: Boud/Edding Quartet (Audio CD)
The sound of the clarined is very beautiful and is the main reason I recommend this wonderful disc. The instrument was built following the sembiance of original one painted in a pictured of the seventh century. All others was period instruments played in the filological manner so very clean without vibrato. The wallet is a piece of art itself and the booklet is very well done.
Mozart at the best it's all!

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to heard, 25 Oct. 2009
Very well registered with a warm tone and th right dose of reverberation, the atmosphere of a coir singing in a church is very well reproduced. The libretto contains the psalm (2 and 22) three motets, six proverbs and a hymn in three languages (german, francaise ad english). The choir performs very well and the director is of first class even it was registered in 1984 (and 2003). A good choice for reasonable price indeed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, 11 Oct. 2009
This review is from: Handel - Faramondo (Audio CD)
The plot is really too much complicated and make quite impossible to follow and to understand
completely the story.
In other words you should have to use a lot of effort to know all the
relationship between the characters or you should be a fan of very intricated story like soap operas.
Stated this first fact you can deilght the music of Handel (and this could be enough!).
The singer are of high level and the players do a pretty good job. But while the firsts puts emotions and
drama in their performance, the orchestra could have been more expressive.
At the end there is a lackness of dramatization and some arias results quite flat or
al least could have been done better with more punch from the side of the direction.
To be honest this opera has less density of beautiful arias than other famous Handel opera's and pheraps
with a lower average level of quality also. There are infact pretty long recitative parts (that should get more
clear the plot!?) and less arias in general.
A good purchase for the Handel opera fans

Offered by momox co uk

4.0 out of 5 stars The other Liszt, 11 Oct. 2009
Liszt is very appreciated as piano composer but during his long life he has approaced also the great orchestra as
a fine composer. This happened late in his career .
I like expecially the Faust and the direction of Inbal while tha Dante work does not convice me completely.
I cannot explain what seems not work, if the play of the orchestra or a not so incisive direction of the conductor,
I can only say the result is not so good as the first disc.
Anyhow also only the first performance (Inbal) deserve the purchase of the whole package.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating opera, 12 Sept. 2009
Here we have "Opera in un prologo e tre atti" contained in four CDs for more then 4 hours of entertainment.
Pretty thought to digest in one shot for our modern habits but It deserve the effort at the end. This is like a jurney in the past
and you figure out how the men of the 1600 thought about love an woman.
Registered in Corse and played with very fine italian toungue singers this is a very high level and accurate work.
There is not recitative parts and arias but all are sung and played at the same time. Very fashinating indeed.
Some arias then you coulnd't forget (like the last 'Pur ti miro')

Highly recommended

4.0 out of 5 stars Live but good, 9 Aug. 2009
I like this synphony that in some parts song like the most famous sixth (Patetica). It has some taste of melancoly even if is not so dramatic as the latter.
For my (poor) experience in the classical world this CD is well registered and the sounds is of first class. The live performance can be recognized by the listener for the particular ambiance and sound and make the experience more exciting.
The director has a quite decise hand with the orchestra and the outcome is involving and emotional.
At the end a fine recording to suggest.
