5.0 out of 5 stars A superb epitaph, 18 July 2006
This review is from: SAVANE (Audio CD)
Savane is a superb epitaph to the late Ali Farka Toure's recording career. All of his releases have been a joy to listen to and this final album is no exception. It just somehow seems like it's the best thing he ever did - and in fact the great man himself said so. If you are a fan, then you will need no convincing. A truly enjoyable recording. Mr Toure, your music will endure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic remaster, 2 Jun. 2005
I have owned "Brothers In Arms" in various formats since it's 1985 release, and I have to say that this really does top the bill. The remastering on this hybrid disc is absolutely outstanding. I wasn't completely sold on the SACD format until this release and boy was I blown-away. If you have owned this album before, then do yourself a favour and get this the 20th anniversay edition. A classic album deserving of space on your shelf. Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Arena remastered, 10 April 2004
This review is from: Arena (Audio CD)
I used to have this album on cassette when it first came out and it goes without saying that (as a Duran Duran fan) it is fantastic to hear it in it's remastered form. I hope that the rest of the Duran back catalogue gets remastered promptly. This is a great live album and worthy of purchase, but why do I give it only four out of five? Well I'm being hellishly harsh, but given that this is a remaster etc, the opening track starts off rather badly like somone pressing record and just catching the start of the song.Other than that - excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic 80's album., 5 Aug. 2003
This review is from: Duran Duran (Audio CD)
It's not often that bands produce consistently great material, but Duran Duran managed it with three consecutively great albums in a row. So it is fitting that Duran Duran's debut along with Seven & The Ragged Tiger should finally join Rio in their remastered forms. Excellent songs, great sound and happy memories. I'm still puzzled as to why "Sound Of Thunder" was never released as a single - but there you go. This disc has been a long wait but well worth it - not one duff track.
This album was fantastic when it first came out, and it is every bit as good today. If you own an old copy, do yourself a favour and get this new version and remember the 80's.
