3.0 out of 5 stars Problems with quantities?, 10 Oct 2012
This review is from: A Passion for Baking (Hardcover)
This book contains some really lovely, mouth watering recipes, which are quite simple to make. The only problem I have had is that the quantities are sometimes way out. The dough for the cheese and onion chutney scones was so wet I had to ask almost double the flour suggested, and then the egg glaze started to burn before the scones were properly cooked. I will miss the glaze off next time! On the carrot tray tray-bake, the frosting needed double the stated amount of icing sugar otherwise it was just too wet again - and there was, in the end, about double the frosting that was needed. What a waste of ingredients. I am a little wary of trying other recipes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple solution to set-up problem, 7 Oct 2011
When you are setting up your extender, you will come to a page where you are asked to enter a "passphrase". Below this are 4 boxes marked Key 1, Key 2 etc. Enter the WEP key for your router in the box marked Key 1, and leave "Passphrase" empty. If the instructions were a little clearer, I may have been saved numerous emails and a lengthy telephone call to Netgear. Having said that, Netgear were very helpful indeed, and I now have 90 days of free support after registering my product online. The extender is working fine, we can connect with the laptop, ipad and the PS3 in a room that was previously a wifi dead zone. A very good product, just let down a little by the poor instruction leaflet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Could all have been covered in 2 chapters, 3 Aug 2011
This review is from: Sick Notes (Paperback)
The NHS is crippled by bureaucracy, patients are mostly time-wasting hypochondriacs, the author is the only person in the entire NHS with an ounce of common sense. Ok, so I got that after the first couple of chapters. The rest was one long repetitive whinge, sanctimonious and highly dis-respectful to the patients who have the audacity to be ordinary people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin!, 29 Mar 2011
This book has made my day. I have only been playing the piano for a few months and am heartily sick of practising the same 3 pieces for the Grade 1 exam! This book is perfect - there is a range of pieces here, many of which which will be familiar even if the titles don't ring a bell. Discovering you know a melody as you try to pick it out hesitantly is very satisfying, and discovering that the simplified version of The Moonlight Sonata is easily playable is very good for the self confidence. Excellent sight reading practice and an all round great book for beginners.
