5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly best McCartney Album since The Beatles?, 4 July 2008
This review is from: Memory Almost Full (Audio CD)
Just my opinion - but I believe this is the most consistent album from McCartney since the Lennon/McCatney split. Great tunes, great production. I fail to undestand why this hasn't sold in greater numbers. Head and shoulders above most current releases. Never been a massive McCartney solo fan but this re-affirms my belief in the mans song-writing talents and a testament to there being life after Lennon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor, 18 Jun. 2008
Speaking as someone who enjoyed the first 'National Treasure', I won't waste any more of my time on this film other than to say this has to be one of the worst 'big budget' adventure movies I have ever had the misfortune of wasting my time on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab bit of kit, 20 April 2008
Improves the quality of MP3's via your pc dramatically. Has headphone and line-out outputs. Can also be used without PC to improve the quality of i-pod or other MP3 player but does require additional power supply for this purpose. I am a bit of an audiophile and am very impressed with this. Even better as I bought it on sale in PC world for £19.99! If you aspire to hi-fi quality from MP3's, then this goes some way to achieving that goal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value for money, 24 Feb. 2008
Bought these off Amazon for £6.99. If you're into the bud type earphones then I'm pretty sure you will not get better value for money than these. Equally as good as any of their rivals costing 3 times the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, 5 Feb. 2008
This review is from: Has Been (Audio CD)
The music's great (as you'd expect from Ben Folds) and Shat draws you in with his delivery. Poignant lyrics in places. Poetic, surreal meanderings in others, but always listenable. Don't dismiss this as a novelty record - it most certainly ain't, not that Shat takes himself too seriously. As he says 'Live life like you're gonna die - because you are!'

5.0 out of 5 stars Music of the highest calibre, 25 Jan. 2008
What a joy to discover a band of this quality (thanks to Bob Harris on Radio 2). I can't believe I haven't come across them previously. What is particularly great though is that they have a whole back catalogue spanning about 16 years for me to peruse.
The DVD-A version is tremendous and the 5.1 mix even improves on the high quality stereo version (this is well recorded/engineered music in addition to the fact that they're fantastic songs.
Imagine a mix of the following artists at their best - Rush/Floyd/Beach Boys/King Crimson/Todd Rundgren/Crosby, Stills, Nash/NIN all thrown into a melting pot with PT's originality added for good measure. It's a long time since I've been this impressed. WOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - a real alternative to the nano, 11 Jan. 2008
Not much to say except I bought this as a temporary replacement while waiting for repair to my ipod and it was on offer in Argos for £84. Tremendous value for money. Sound, while quieter than 5th gen ipod, is significantly superior. With a set of Bose in ear headphones it's almost audiophile quality! Re the software issues described by previous reviewer - you don't actually need any software as you are able to drag and drop your mp3's into the player. Re the itunes issue - I have had no problem dragging and dropping itunes plus albums into the 818, though I think it will only play itunes plus files not standard itunes, but I could well be wrong. Battery life great. Video playback - great. Supplied headphones - better than average though quieter than some. Try a pair of CX 300's if these are too quiet - significantly louder.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent self-help book, 8 Nov. 2007
I cannot commend this book highly enough, speaking as someone who has benefitted greatly from the common sense approach of CBT described in this book. It is written in an easy to understand manner and I felt immediate benefits from reading this book. CBT won't change your life overnight but if you are prepared to put in the effort then I have found that my life is changing for the better. Old, negative ways of thinking, which I had believed would never change, have been replaced with a more positive attitude and outlook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Live Bowie Album, 26 July 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: David Live [DVD AUDIO] (DVD Audio)
This is a great album on which Bowies singing shines. The DVD A 5.1 sound quality is OK - but given the recording situation (of which you'll learn if you read Tony Visconti's linear notes)then you ain't gonna expect audiophile sound. Having said that it is definitely the best version available of this album.
I have to correct the previous reviewer though - the stereo mix on the DVD Vid layer is merely a downmix of the 5.1 version (again it's in the linear notes).

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring and lack-lustre, 23 April 2007
What a disappointment - I was always of the opinion that Joni Mitchell songs shouldnt be covered. Then Ian Shaw brought out Drawn To All Things - an album of Joni covers - what a fantastic album that is and show's that the right singer, with the right interpretation can do these songs justice.

Sadly, that's not the case on this CD, with the exception of the James Taylor song.

If you want to hear how Joni Mitchell songs should be interpreted and covered go and buy Ian Shaw - Drawn To All Things. Don't be put off by the Amazon warning that it requires SACD compatible equipment, it will also play on any CD player. Go on - treat yourself, it'll help you get over the disappointment of purchasing this one.
