1.0 out of 5 stars A catastrophic failure, 4 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bjarne Stroustrup used to be a hero until I read this but this book should be avoided at all costs purely because it is absolutely riddled with errors. Being an experienced C++ programmer who only got this book as a handy reference for the C++11 changes I was able to spot them but anybody less experienced will either copy erroneous code blindly or be utterly confused.

Having belatedly checked online for errata I find that there is a 14th printing that has fixed many errors. This is the "Special Edition" available in hardback only (http://www.amazon.co.uk/C-Programming-Language-Special/dp/0201700735/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1399190821&sr=1-1&keywords=0201700735)

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a classic, 29 May 2013

Having now read all of Danny King's books I like to think I'm something of an authority and, whilst this is OK and I don't begrudge the time spent reading it I have to say that is nowhere near his brilliant best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Questionable ending, 29 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Blue Collar (Kindle Edition)
I wasn't sure about the ending because I could see it coming from way off and it didn't really ring true but by the time I got there I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Perhaps not a typical Danny King but really enjoyable and made me smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shame it's the last season, 20 April 2013

I bought season 1 without having seen any episodes and I was immediately hooked.
Season 2 is just as good.
A must for lovers of quality original drama.

C# 5.0 in a Nutshell: The Definitive Reference
C# 5.0 in a Nutshell: The Definitive Reference
by Joseph Albahari
Edition: Paperback
Price: 35.50

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need, 20 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's a comprehensive reference and a useful learning aid for any C# programmer just needing to learn about the latest features.
It's particularly useful as a reference for LINQ (Appropriately as it is by the creator of LINQPad)

The only thing that I would say against this book is that the useful section on asynchronous I/O from the previous edition (which I also bought) has been dropped in favour of the new C# async/await constructs. I can understand why (because this is quite a thick book already) but many of us still have to deal with .NET 4.0 in our daily work and async I/O is something that really needs good documentation.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new slant on zombies and detectives in the usual hilarious Danny King style, 20 April 2013

Who else would have thought of bringing these two genres together?
This probably rates as one of my favourite DK novels and I like them all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hodge-podge of random topics, 20 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
No coherent structure.
No systematic approach to anything at all.
No details about developing cmdlets or providers in a book ostensibly for developers.
Frequently refers you to online resources.
It is essentially just a bunch of unrelated examples.
Each chapter is interesting enough in its own right but that doesn't make it a good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars another great, 21 Feb 2013

I've only discovered Danny King recently and I'm steadily working through his extensive collection of books. All are excellent value especially on kindle but the burglar diaries are the best of the bunch so far.
I wish I'd seen the TV series when it was broadcast.
