5.0 out of 5 stars Great RAM, 27 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It arrived quickly in easy to open packaging (No leaflets of any kind or adverts, just the RAM sticks), so no cut fingers anymore which is great!

The RAM sticks themselves are very good quality and the heatspreaders mean you can overclock if needed, and these overclock very well, you can get them up to 2000Mhz!

They are fast (1600Mhz) which is useful for rendering and Photoshop etc. where the speeds will cut the rendering time's quite significantly!

They also very good if you have a window in your case, which is nice if your aiming to build a good looking computer.

Only problem is that one stick was DOA, but I cant deduct any stars because Corsair issued an RMA in 5 minutes when I contacted them via their portal!

All in all, great sticks, I really recommend them!

Asus M5A97 PRO Motherboard (Socket AM3+, DDR3, ATX, Auto Tuning - Auto System Level Up)
Asus M5A97 PRO Motherboard (Socket AM3+, DDR3, ATX, Auto Tuning - Auto System Level Up)

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb board!, 27 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I used this motherboard for my first build as I know that Asus are the Intel of motherboards.

It came well packaged in the official Asus box inside an Anti-static bag with some polystyrene and a metallic sticker that says "Powered by Asus".

This board has a lot of nice features such as automatic over clocking and stress testing which is fully automated at the click of a button, and has LED's for all components allowing you to see which component isn't working very easily.

It comes with a very user friendly graphical BIOS that has lots of features and shows speeds and voltages on the main page, which is useful for over clocking and stress testing.

It also supports FX processors with a new BIOS update which is great.

Hardware:
AMD FX 6300 OC @ 3.7Ghz
Corsair Vengance 8GB RAM @ 1600 Mhz
MSI AMD Radeon 6770 OC @ 910Mhz/1300Mhz
Hitatchi 250GB Drive
Corsair GS700 PSU

This board is cheap but has good support for hardware, such as 6GBPS HDD's and ODD's, and supports up to 32GB of RAM, which means you can upgrade in the future easily.

Only gripe is, as another reviewer mentioned, the 2nd PCI Express slot runs in 8x, which means that CrossfireX isnt a good option, but if you're going to crossfire I doubt you would go with a £50 board.

This dosen't seem to be available anymore, but if you do see one laying around, I can happily recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good card!, 27 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although this card is a few years old now and uses the 5770 chip, it can still run many games on High/Medium on full 1080P.
I can run GTA IV @ Max, 1080P, at about 30FPS+, and Battlefield 3 on High, 1080P, and the FPS dosent seem to go any lower than 30~FPS to the naked eye.

Another bonus is it comes with VGA, and a lot of cards nowadays don't, so this is very useful as a lot of people still have VGA monitors. However, it dosent have Displayport which means it cannot support eyefinity with three screens, but if you're going to use eyefinity, you would get a better GPU anyway.

The fan itself isn't too loud but isn't very ideal if you want to build a HTPC, but this isn't an issue as you can get a cheap GPU cooler for around ~£30-40 that is quiet and performs well.

For a budget GPU, I cannot recommend this enough, but if you can stretch the budget, go for a 7870 as you will have much more over clocking headroom and better performance.

Arrived quickly, and it does exactly what its meant to do. It is comfortable and is very high quality, but more importantly, appears to remove all ESD, as I used this to install my processor and it works fine as of installation.

A little tip to people who are doing their first time build - you need to plug this in to an EXPOSED part of your case where there is no paint, or a PSU screw for example, and you need to have the PSU plugged in with the switch both on the wall and on the PSU OFF, otherwise you risk getting electrocuted. A lot of people don't plug the PSU in, but that means the electricity has nowhere to go, and this band will not be able to do its job properly.

All in all, highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great performance!, 27 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
So far, I havent got much on my computer. Just browers, email client, skype, and a few games. It is very quick on those applications, and the 6 cores really help in running lots of programs at once. I had Skype open, Maxthon which was downloading some drivers and applications, and GTA IV maxed out and I saw no lag whatsoever.

Browsing is also smooth even when I turn off GPU Acceleration.

I got this processor because I use Photoshop a lot and sometimes Cinema 4D, but I haven't installed these yet as I need to find the CD's (I will update later when I do install them).

However, as a lot of people pointed out, the stock cooler isn't very good. Unlike it's predecessor, the Phenom series, the heatsink included hasn't got any heatpipes.

I can't give any actual temp's because the thermal module in this processor isn't very accurate because of the equation it uses to state temperatures, but I would recommend you get a new cooler (I'd highly reccomend the Arctic Cooling A30 and the Zalman CNPS10X, they have superb reviews, and will keep your processor ice cool!).

The fan on the heatsink is as loud as before, but has more blades so it has a higher CFM. But it is quite loud and emits a irritating whirring noise. Maxed out (Which it will never reach), it becomes very loud, but this isnt a problem as it stays on 40% ish most of the time.

All in all, I would recommend this highly to anyone who dosent have hundreds to spend on an Intel equivalent.

It works well, feels very well made. It came relatively quickly in a brown OEM box, without any cabling, but that was fine as my motherboard came with some SATA cables. Not much else to say. If you want a cheap Optical drive, this is the one to get!

Corsair CMPSU-700GUK Gaming Series GS700 High Performance 700W Power Supply

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality PSU, 25 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This Power Supply is great, as a always from corsair, looks absolutely great especially with the Tricolour LED's, adds a nice glow.
Worth mentioning this has a lot of cables! Better than my last psu who wouldnt fit in my midiATX case.

Edit: This has developed a slight whine noise which turns out to be quite common. Haven't contacted Corsair yet but will post back if I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CPU, 19 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This processor, as always from AMD, is great, and since this is the Black Edition, it is C3 Stepping allowing for overclocks over 3.8GHZ. It is cheap yet great for gaming!
The Processor runs games smoothly and keeps cool, i have the fan running at 3462 RPM which is halfway and still max temp is 55c.
I did do Prime 95 Blend with the heatsink, I reached 55c tops, which needless to say, even for stock cooling, is good.
Great Processor, but get after-market cooler if you want to overclock like crazy.
