5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, amazing, the best FPS ever. (Yes Halo you too), 6 May 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Black (PS2) (Video Game)
Black is the best FPS ever, period. You play a Black Ops guy named Keller who is assigned to take down some drugs dealer called Lennox or something like that. Don't worry too much about the plot though. If Black is about anything, its about blowing stuff up.

Graphics: Who said PS2 can't do cutting edge? These are very impressive. The environments look amazing the guns look superb and the explosions! Visually stunning. 5/5

Sound: The guns have a real KAPOW! feel to them. THey make some really macho shooting sounds and if you have surround sounds its one of the best audio experiences around today. Glass will fly over your head, bullets will fly past and a car will explode in your living room. Really good. 4/5

Gameplay: Awesome. The most thrilling FPS ever. The environment is completely destructible! You can destroy everything from windows to whole trucks (and even in one amazing instance a whole massive gas depot tank folllowed by the most spectacularly over-the-top explosions ever!). One memorable instance is that whilst i was pinned down (this happens ALOT) behind a wall in the upper floor of a house i was trying to snipe goons through the windows. But the window bar was in the way! I just shot it through! Other FPS games would have you moving around it trying to get a shot in! NOT IN THIS ONE! You even shoot through the barriers that enemies hide behind! That is a GOOD feeling. Another thing. The reload animations dont take FOREVER (yes you killzone) its just clip in, clip out. No fuss. 5/5

Originalety: Destructible scenery is a surprisingly new idea. Cut n paste plot brings the score down. 3/5

Lifespan: Biggest let down. Can be completed in 6-7 hours despite hour long levels (yes they do have checkpoints in for you clumsy people who keep dying lol).

Learning curve: Destructible scenery gets some getting used to but thats because its never been done before!

Shadow of the colossus is a game like no other. Think of any game you've played and it will not be simlilar to this game. Basically you are a boy/teenager/man i don't really know but anyway. You have a dead girlfriend and to revive her a voice from the heavens tells you you have to slay 16 colossi. And these things are BIG.

Graphics: Stunning. The landscape is awesome. A particular place where i noticed this is when i was riding across a land bridge to find colossus 2. And WOW. The view was stunning! You have to see it becuase I'm not going to tell you what it looks like! The only gripe I have with is that close up the characters can look blocky.

Sound: This is again, brilliant. Its context sensitive. This means that when you wander around looking for the colossus its all silent (adding to the feel that its you alone in isolation) but when you are fighting the colossus its goes all powerful and orchestral. Then finally when the skyscraper sized monster comes crashing down it brings in some sad music.

Gameplay: Although riding around can be tedious (although with the best horse animations ever!) the battles with the colossus are spectacular. I love the feeling of 'how am i supposed to kill that?' and then the huge 'AHAH!'. A word of warning though. The first colossus may seem underwhelming.

Originality: Honestly? Did you read the start of my review?

Learning curve: The controls and dodgy jumping physics can take a bit of getting used to but the game is not too easy or hard.

Lifespan: Quite a long game but not much replay value.

Overall: AWESOME GAME! BUY IT NOW!! That is... if you have some time on your hands...

loads of great anthems on this cd! Lots of sing alongs! The power of these songs is what makes it a good cd for me though. My favourites are 'ashes' someday' 'glorious day' and 'out of nothing'. If you like indie or you just like songs with soul BUY IT NOW!
