I'm an old Skool player since cod4 and I'm glad to say this is a return to form , one for us older gamers who get sick and tired of the fast and furious pace of the last couple of instalments . Each kill is earned , tactics come into play ( not just running around nuke town with an smg and getting 20+ kills) maps are lovely and big with plenty of scope for sniping or taking the battle to the frontline if preferred . Some maps are reminiscent of world at war ( which is a good thing IMO )
This game is getting a lot of flak from the younger gamers who like the jumping , no scoping overpowered gun play of b ops2 and mw3 but believe me just as I was losing faith this has restored some faith .
Not played campaign so review based on multiplayer only

5.0 out of 5 stars Making a stand for SH Downpour, 6 April 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Firstly , i,ll start by saying i,ve played all silent hills along with all resident evils and condemned { survival horror being my fave genre }. The criticism levelled at this game along with the unfair reviews dished out by some websites is frankly ridiculous . No its not SH2 , and to be fair apart from the odd section its nowhere near as scary or dread inducing as those early releases .

But what we do have , after the first couple of levels is an open world Silent hill , with and this is where it comes into its own , some genuinley clever puzzles and side quests to do , if you play on the harder puzzle settings you with be tested . it reminds me of early games when you had to really think and explore ( unlike alan wake for example where the developers spent months creating puzzles for you only to go into cut scenes and pan around to show you what to do before you even tried them ......). actually it reminds me of Alan Wake got the same sort of feel , but better .

unfortunatly because of bad reviews , which in turn will lead to poor sales games like this (which are becoming scarcer by the day ) will become no more . we will instead be only able to play Fifa 65 or Cod 47,,,,,,

so buy it enjoy it and write a good review for it , come on brothers "Viva la Revolution"

3.0 out of 5 stars good but not great, 29 May 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Alan Wake (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
i was really looking forward to this , i love a good solid single player story driven game , with my faves being condemned , silent hill , resi evil and bioshock , so when this turned up i was excited . firstly can i say that the controls and story are very solid , however it falls down on the following points for me . the length is very disappointing , i only play a couple of hours a night after the kids are settled etc , and this game seemed to be over just as i was really getting into the flow after 3 evenings and i was genuinely gutted when it ended i was enjoying it that much ( esp the trip to the old rock stars farm ...) secondly is its just not scary , i mean there are some great set pieces but it aint scary and finally , and this is a problem with a lot of newer games nowadays , it treats the gamer like an idiot , i dont need pointers telling me to flick this switch here or get to that transformer there . i like working out problems for myself , whats the point in putting these puzzles in if they are gonna tell you how to solve em before you have entered the room ..... so overall good but not great , not a lot of replay value either unless you love running around the arse end of some large levels just to pick up a coffee flask or piece of paper ...... i would say its a good solid rent title but think before paying full price ......

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful music, 18 Jun 2002
This review is from: Mark Hollis (Audio CD)
After the well documented latter talk talk albums comes Mark Hollis,s wonderful and overlooked solo opus.Reading reviews before buying is always a risky business, and i must say after the reviews written about this i was expecting an album which was initially hard work but ultimately rewarding.I was then pleasantly surprised to hear the opening tracks gentle beauty and i must say after numerous listens it opens up more treasures with every listen ,I could say the same for the album as a whole.to sumarise an album of genius like this to a few words is an injustice, but we must ,so in my opinion better than both Eden and Laughing stock and thats not something said lightly. i would just add the marks vocals on this album are the most stunning i have ever heard , and i have heard a few.BUY this album and better your life
