This review is from: Compelled by Joy (Kindle Edition)
The book starts with a moving and compelling testimony by the author. It is heart-warming to hear how he became a Christian and has been used by God to preach the Gospel for many ensuing years. The book then goes into the nuts and bolts of evangelism to various groups and gets a bit tedious towards the end.

This is an extraordinary story of faith under persecution. Amazing to read of many lives changed through bold witness for Jesus in spite of harsh recriminations from family as well as strangers. Very challenging for those of us who have life easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must be read!, 10 July 2013

This is an extraordinary story of 2 ordinary women imprisoned for 8 months without trial or charge except that they are Christians in a Muslim state. They describe terrible prison conditions and women being brutally treated and even executed without trial. In spite of their own experience of injustice, they bring light and hope to many who have lost everything, even their self-respect. This book is an education and an inspiration to anyone who values Truth and Justice.

This book is a brief biography of 10 great Christians from the past whose lives and ministries have influenced Christian history right down to our day. It is a "taster" for the full biographies. Further reading is recommended for each subject. A great start to reading the history of the Christian Church.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lord's Prayer, 27 Feb. 2013

How can there be yet another book about the Lord's Prayer? Surely all that could be written has been done already, yet Darrell Johnson had every reason to write this book, but he doesn't give it away till the last chapter. (No peeping!)

Holding onto Hope: A Pathway through Suffering to the Heart of God
Holding onto Hope: A Pathway through Suffering to the Heart of God
by Nancy Guthrie
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, 31 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For anyone who is suffering pain or loss and trying to make sense of it in relationship to God, this book contains some of the most profound insights into the book of Job. Written out of her own experience, Nancy Guthrie brings a moving account of her own journey through the loss of 2 children and the on-going pain that she and her family experience. As we read it we were continually encouraged and challenged to seek God in our present sufferings and see life from His glorious perspective rather than our own hardship.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, 23 May 2012

This book explores the views of all faiths and creeds and puts them under the Biblical microscope. Reincarnation, annihilation, oblivion and eternity are explored honestly and openly. None of this prepares the reader for the final part which we found extremely moving and exciting because we know we are bound for eternity with God. It would be very challenging if we didn't.
