3.0 out of 5 stars An OK effort., 15 Mar. 2006

This album is OK in short bursts. Some of the tracks are catchy but they have released all of the good songs on the album as singles and now everyone (or me at least) is sick of them. There are some good tracks, but it tails off at the end and after a few listens you start to wonder they rely so much on "na na"s and "la la"s. Buy the album cheap if you can, and don't be drawn into the large hype surrounding the band. They are perhaps one of the most overrated bands around, particularly among the student population.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh dear., 15 Mar. 2006

Well...what can I say? Hard-Fi burst onto the pop charts with "Hard to Beat", a fairly likeable song. Unfortunately it's all downhill from there. From the general whingeing to the simplistic songs you get the impression these guys were told by a record executive somewhere "You guys are going to be huge!" as part of his sales pitch and they actually believed him. They seems cocky, which can be a good thing for some albums but with this album it comes across more like: "Yeah, so this song isn't very good. Who cares? You bought the album. What are you going to do about it?" Once you see past the hype and the "yeah, man, they're cool" factor you realise the CD isn't even worthy as a coaster. Avoid at all costs.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Strong Debut, 15 Mar. 2006
This review is from: Inside In/Inside Out (Audio CD)
This album is bursting with energy. It takes the excited, almost child-like glee and presence of pop-rock with the sound of great indie. What you get is music that sound great, even on repeat, and a band that is also highly likeable. They sound like the kind of people you would want to meet in a pub and have a light-hearted chat with. This album features some great songs ("Sofa Song" stands out, as well as "Eddie's Gun") and I would recommend it to anyone. It seems suitable for any mood or occasion. With that glowing praise I still can't give it 5 stars as that 5th star is reserved for albums of legendary status. This album is very good, buy it now and let it all go.
