4.0 out of 5 stars Works Well When You Work Out How To Put It together, 10 April 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This machine performs well at all the task that you would expect, the jet seems as powerful, possibly more, than those you get a garages and is easy enough to use...once you've worked out how to put it together. The "manual" is pathetic. A lot of the time I just tried things out rather than following the ridiculously sparse instructions.
If I had no experience of connnectors, hose pipes etc. I would have been at a loss when trying to connect the pressure hose, "Click", my a**e!
So, yes, buy this if you want a good cleaning device that will eventually save you back the cost of car washes, but be prepared to scratch your head in between taking it out of the box and using it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant, 10 April 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These have to be the best headphones I have ever tried or owned. From the moment they go on it's obvious why some cost £15.00 and some £200. Bass is deep, resounding and full, with no crackle at high volume; Trebles crisp and clear. The blue tooth connection procedure is extremely simply (and quite funky in your ears!).
I love the touch sensitive on ear volume control and the fact that they feel like they will last forever: There's certainly no cheap plactic feel here. Even the cable for charging and optional jack cable have a quality look and feel.
Weight-wise they're just about right, being comfortable to wear for extended periods.

Very nice quality item.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch out! There's a new edition about to be released..., 10 April 2013
This review is from: Wings Over America (Audio CD)
This is a fabulous album, one of the few live releases that really captures the times, the atmosphere and performances perfectly. Watch out if you're reading this before May 27th 2013, though, there's a new remastered edition about to be released, which, unusually for Amazon doesn't yet link up with this one. This is the version to get: Wings Over America (Well, alright, I'm assuming that this is a clearer, crisper version than ever before but this is based on my experience of other McCartney / Beatles remasters, which have been head and shoulders above previous releases).

Animal Farm: A BBC Full-Cast Radio Drama
Animal Farm: A BBC Full-Cast Radio Drama
by George Orwell
Edition: Audio CD
Price: £10.77

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Well Staged and Produced, 26 Mar 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The story of Animal Farm is so well known to so many people that it must be difficult to come up with a fresh take on this most allegorical of all allegorical tales. So Radio 4 didn't try to. Instead they have used a version of that was actually written, and presumably at the time of original broadcast in the forties, overseen by the author himself. As a consequence George Orwell's wonderful style is throughly stamped all over this quality production. With a top notch cast this is a definite must for fans and newcomers alike.
Perfectly realised cover art as well.
I'm rather afraid that this review is about to be lost forever in the hundred that have already been posted for all the different versions of this wonderful book. If you do happen to read it please check out Orwell's lesser know books such as Coming Up for Air (Penguin Modern Classics)and Keep the Aspidistra Flying (Penguin Modern Classics).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Second Outing for James Smythe, 26 Mar 2013
This review is from: The Explorer (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The author's first book, The Testimony was a thoroughly enjoyable and different debut and I had high hopes for this, his second book; I wasn't disappointed. The Explorer intrigues from the start. Having dealt with everything alluded to in the blurb within the first few pages I was left wondering where the story could possibly go. I won't spoil it by telling anything but suffice to say what unfurls is a highly imaginative and totally engrossing story, dealing with loss, despair, existentialism and good old fashioned scary sci fi.
There are no grand operatic sweeps, but they're not needed. Indeed, I particularly like the intimacy of this story, putting me in mind of films such as Solaris, and in places I was reminded of Ray Bradbury's wonderful book The Martian Chronicles (Flamingo Modern Classic)- not that this is obviously over influenced by anything- it's a very original plot, executed perfectly.
I am overjoyed to have got in "on the ground floor" with James Smythe's work and have already ordered his next, The Machine. Fingers crossed for a hat trick!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Sci-Fi / Fantasy Romp, 17 Mar 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a fun romp through quasi-biblical worlds, mixed with light sci-fi, spun together in a very funny tale that also manages to include some insightful philosophy. It is a page turner. As the third part of a trilogy, it goes without saying that you would benefit from reading the previous two books before this, but it's possible to piece things together and enjoy this volume for itself. There are hints of Douglas Adams on occasion but more in tribute, I think, than out and out copy.
If you're a fan of humourous sci-fi and want a fun read you could do worse than check this out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delicious but pricey way to enjoy coffee, 17 Mar 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have thoroughly drinking and tasting my way through this selection box of delicious coffees. Each different type of coffee is colour coded and there is a menu with tasting notes.
Drink these and you'll never go back to instant.
However, I do think that this is a most expensive way of drinking coffee at home.
OK it's quick and relatively mess free, but I think I'd rather buy my coffee in big packs and make it in my stove top pot.
It may not be as quick, but you'll save a fortune and be able to choose exactly the strength you want.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes There's A Reason Why You've Never Heard Of A Track Before..., 11 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
... and the Colpix Story is a case in point. Yes, it's got some really great tracks: Blue Moon by The Marcels, Chilly Winds Don't Blow by Nina Simone and (and I'm aware I'm contradicting myself slightly here) Save Those Teardrops by Bobby Adams (No, I hadn't either). But really? "Sports Car Sally", "My Colouring Book" and, Lord save me, "She Can't Find Her Keys". It's often been said that the period covered by this compilation- between the aftershock of Rock and Roll's debut and the coming of The Beatles, was one of the poorest of the modern music era and if this was the only compilation available for 59-62 it would be case proven. (Mother Goose Twist anyone?)
Look, it's only around a fiver and there are some good tracks and some interesting items, such as early, pre-Spector Ronettes recordings, and as such makes an interesting historical document, but unless you were there and have pangs of nostalgia whenever you hear Gidget Goes Hawaian or Staying Up Late, or want many great examples of just how much The Beatles were NEEDED in 1962 it's probably not worth buying this over the really, really great Stax- Wait A Minute -The Stax & Satellite Story (1959-1962) or Sue-Sticks And Stones- The Sue Records Story (1957-1962)- compilations One Day have out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good sound for a low price but no 3 pin plug provided..., 8 Mar 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These don't feel or look like the highest quality but the important thing is the sound, of course, and in that these speakers perform admirably. The volume control is a little awkward to use; being so light it sort of hangs of the cable on your desk, but a good blob of blutak would probably help with that. The cables themselves are a little short- OK if you want to use them with a computer, not so great for living room TVs, I'd imagine.
The trebles are crisp and the bass, even at low volumes, is well rounded without being overbearing. Overall sound compares favourably with that of other speakers I have tested and is much better than any computer speakers that you could buy for a comparable price 10 years ago; speaker technology has much improved!
For around £50.00 this seems like a good deal.
One small gripe though: for some reason the makers seem to have forgotten that we use three pin plugs in the UK. Luckily I had an adapter plug ready to use but it would be better if it was literally plug and play.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Yet! Fabulous!, 5 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'm so impressed with One Day's output. Just when I thought they couldn't better their Chess Compilation Hoochie Coochie Man- The Chess Story, through the letterbox drops this DIAMOND! Any collection with Green Onions is always going to be worth 5 stars before it starts, that's a given, but this is a TEN star collection. I thought I'd heard most of Stax's output but on listening to this it's soon become apparent that I really had only scratched the surface. Part of this is my lack of investigation, but part of the blame I lay at the seemingless endless number of Stax compilations that have been available over the years, all churning out the usual suspects for a premium price. At last I have had the scales lifted and see (well hear) that there was so much more. AND I ONLY PAID £4.00!
If I hadn't bought this I would have missed so much and my musical life would have been the poorer.
Don't make that mistake. Buy, buy, buy!
