5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating insight, 31 Oct 2013
A short but fascinating description of the light cavalry troops who revolutionised warfare. A good balanced description of when they they could dominate a battle or when circumstances would make them irrelevant. Worth a read.

Some can be twisted and corrupted by their past, their decisions, their lives. Yet others can survive, resist, and maybe live to soar.

Fantastically written, with a powerful now/then structure, this is an amazing story of hope.

Have you ever thought about starting your own business? Be your own boss? Keep all the profits for yourself?

Here's a wonderful story of real life hitting the big dream. It was great to read Jonny stumble into the world of self employment. He's not exactly a business guru! A lot of laughs, some great characters, and maybe I've even picked up a tip or two about how (or maybe how not to) work from home!

5.0 out of 5 stars Need to re-read, 30 April 2012
Is Alaysha a heroine? A mass murderer? A victim of circumstance? Or just a girl with too much power?

I was so anxious to find out what happened in the story I ended up dashing too fast through the later chapters, so I need to go back and re-read these!

A recommended read with another of Thea Atkinson's memorable central characters

What if they are up their monitoring us, and the planet? What if the planet has grown, developed, become conscious in some way? What if one person could hear that consciousness in pain? What if that one person had just crashed a stolen car after a night of drink and drugs?

A fascinating enthralling story - roll on book 2 and more!

A wonderful poetic exploration of the beach, and the delights a child can find there.

The photographs and cartoon figures delightfully complement each other, giving a bright colourful feel to the book.

The book finishes with a great Beach spotter guide and Family beach ideas.

We will definitely be taking this book with us on our family holiday this Easter.

1.0 out of 5 stars I'm not sure what this book is for . . ., 30 Oct 2007
Not rigorous enough to be proper theology,
not biblical enough to be a study guide.
not readable enough to be a general read.
not funny enough to be a light read,
not serious enough to be a heavyweight read.

Someone in our church house-group said the book's inconsistent style and approach was great, cause it causes arguments and discussions, and through that we can learn more about our faith. We certainly have had some good evenings discussing the chapters - but I'm not sure the book is deliberately written badly just to provoke our thoughts!
