4.0 out of 5 stars Early Seventies Transition Pop, 4 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Mixed Up Minds (Audio CD)
By 1970 pop psych was considered passe and a more earthy style of pop rock was the trend. Nevertheless the singles here are not psych but a delightful grand and elegant style of Uk pop rock. Past & Present says on the back cover of this album that this series is a companion to the Piccadilly Sunshine series so that lets you know what this music is like. 20 obscured and overlooked singles have been gathered here and all are of the highest recording quality. Included is 14 page cover booklet and here is the list of artists featured. Barlaston Down / Chopper / Music Motor / Dog Rose / Trane / Rich Fever / Asgard / Jawbone / Endaf Emyln / Jonathan Gill / Hopestreet / Hollingworth / The Wake / Knocker Jungle / Toby Jug / Methods / Money Jungle / Esprint De Corps / Newmens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fit For The Chase, 29 Sept. 2010
In the late 50's early 60's there was a silent film comedy revival and this film really pays homage to that great era in a glossy colorful widescreen 60's style. Every character and scene is masterfully directed by Stanley Kramer and loaded with hilarious short sightgags and oneliners throughout the film and holds up very well after all these years. The story line is a quest to the find the Big W for a group of travelers who witness a car wreck. Then the movie splits up in to about six different madcap story lines and jumps back and forth between all their mishaps as they race through southern California until they all meet up at the State Park on the coast. One of the funniest chase films ever made and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Travel Dub World Over, 7 April 2010
This review is from: Dub The World (Audio CD)
This various artists album compiled by Umberto Echo on the famed Echo Beach label that specializes in electronic dub is an absolute gem. Umberto has a rich supurb mix of artists and sounds from different countries and it's truely a heavenly listening experience through an EQ system and on headphones. Here are the artists featured: Gentlemen / Katchfire / Rastasize / Steel Pulse / Dub Inc. / Oneness / Cultura Profetica / Up Bustle & Out / Dubblestandart / Stereo MCs / Seeed / Jiang Liang / Smoke / The Red Eyes / Dub Spencer & Trance Hill. I highly recommend this album to have for your collection, enjoy the trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Early Thompson Twins Treasure, 27 Feb. 2010
This review is from: A Product Of.../Set (Audio CD)
I have been waiting forever for these brilliant but hard to find first two albums from the Thompson Twins to be reissued. But some of the reviews here say the sound transfer is inferior. I listened to this album with headphones on through an equalizer with the 250hz bottomed out for the clearest sound and its really not that bad of a listening experience, it sounds great. As for the music this is New Wave when it was very innovative and magical for this group. I highly recommend these recordings that you'll be proud to own for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Last Thompson Twins Album, 26 Feb. 2010
This review is from: Queer (Audio CD)
Don't be put off by the album title or even the awful looking cover, this recording from 1991 is great, it just got lost. Its still the Thompson Twins with their dreamy vocal signature sound from new wave pop to heavy dance but with an early nineties production technique that makes the group sound more richer. If you are a fan of the group then you should enjoy having this recording for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Nuttiest Sound Comes Back Around, 10 Feb. 2010
Madness have not put out an album in 10 years (not counting the covers album) and before that it was 11 years. Its been a long wait between albums but they still sound brilliantly fresh and hilarious as ever. If you liked their records back then or if you are younger and looking for something different, then you should really enjoy this well produced album of the group's unique dance music style of New Wave meets English Music Hall.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Secret Path of Illumination, 2 Dec. 2009
First of all I have not read the book, but this is one tense thriller. Essentially a pursuit film as you follow Langdon and company as they race against the clock of five hours to rescue four Cardinals in different locations and prevent the destruction of Rome. Symbologist Langdon is able to figure out that the secret path of illumination and its symbols are at historical landmarks throughout the city. Langdon also gets in to some real dangerous situations in the film. The screenplay has numerous clues and history references in solving this mystery hunt. This is a great film for your collection if you like action mysteries and highly recommended.
