4.0 out of 5 stars Old Cow Hand, 26 May 2009
this album was purchased because my parents used to own it on vinyl when i was little and i wanted it played so much that eventually it was scratched to buggery. i was casually searching around on amazon and found this pretty much by accident, but there and then i got it. the product came within the deadline of delivery and now listening to a crisp version of the songs i can only remember crackling brought a smile to my face. anyone who wants to hear a slice of nostalgia should get this album

3.0 out of 5 stars Give that guy a break!?!, 15 Jun. 2008
This review is from: Hot Shots! - Part Deux [DVD] (DVD)
Yes I accept that a one star review of this bloody brilliant spoof film is a little harsh but he has a point. I bought this film for all the funny stuff I loved when I watched it many times on the TV. Aswell as the arena fight, the seduction scene was the one I was most fond of. So imagine my unfortunate surprise when this version just dances right past it. It's a real shame and the only reason I can guess they took it out was that it was a 'sex scene' and so raised the classification rating up from a PG. It's lucky i've got the proper version on VHS cause otherwise the lack of the taxi scene with a cheeky bit of the Pointer Sisters' "I'm so excited" would have been even more of a bummer. Basically, if you have seen the film before beware, this whole segment under fire is A.W.O.L. But if you havn't seen the film, don't let this put you off getiing it 'cause the rest is some of the funnyest material to come out of America. This has always been one of my very favorite comedy films and it IS just a shame they didn't feel the need to release the whole film, who cares if it's put up to a 12A or whatever? The full film is definately worth five stars, i've simply given it three, as it lacked the scene I loved so much i've written a review stating how much it was missed by a fan of the full film in all its wacky goodness. All the same...one star? I don't think so

5.0 out of 5 stars If anyone gets funked, let's face facts, it's gonna' be you!, 10 April 2007
This review is from: Tapoafom (Audio CD)
This album is a work of sodding genious, it's quite possibly more funky than the love child of James Brown and a slap bass solo! It starts off with the unforgettable "If anybody gets funked up" which is also beautifuly remixed at the end. Then you get the soft funk groove of "Summer Swim" with the full female backing and jazzy guitar that sort of shindig needs. Notable tracks have to be the ridiculous "Mathmatics" with lyrics such as 'any percent of you is as good as the whole pye' and 'I take the square root and get boxed in everytime!' This, along with "Hard as Steel" (which has more sexual innuendo than an episode of Up Pompeii) shapes this album up to be a worthwhile buy. So if you are a funkaholic, want to broaden your musical taste or just fancy pissing yourself laughing like a hyena on mushrooms, at an old black chappy with rainbow dredds singing and rapping about 'Funking them just to see the look on their face', give this album a go. I did, and know I'm slowly turning black, like Michael Jackson in reverse...no, seriously! Well, not seriously, but otherwise it just wouldn't have been the same.
