The images of war series on the German army of the great war are worth having, the wealth of photographs, many not seen before and the easy reading text makes them accessible.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best yet, 24 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book has been described by Jack Sheldon as " a tour de force" he has chosen his words well, I have yet to see such an excellent work on the Imperial German army which is so detailed . This covers not only the organisation but explains the society from which this army comes and thereby gives the reader an insight into German society and the place of the army within it.
If you are interested in the complex subject, and even Bismark found the German army complex!, this book is a must have .

1.0 out of 5 stars "Dis" I would not recommend, 26 April 2002
This review is from: Irish Wonders (Hardcover)
I am not impressed with this one, the text is difficult to follow without the aid of an interpreter!, the use of "dis " and "dat" is not complementary to the Irish or their language and is dated in it's attitude to same, I have no doubt that this use of text is sapposed to be lighthearted? treatment of the subject, one learns little. I do not think that the contents treat the subject of Irish mythology in a paticulary scolalarly manner and those wishing to understand what is an important part of Irsh life would do well to find another title
