5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbnails problem fixed a long time ago..., 1 April 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I thought I'd write a review just to state that the problem the Diskstation creating thumbnails for photos and videos has been solved a long time ago. The DiskStation management software (a stripped down Linux-based OS that the DiskStation uses to manage the disks and install applications) is now on version 4.0 and by default doesn't create any thumbnails; you can enable this option if you like and even choose whether you'd like normal or 'high-quality' thumbnails.

As a further note, the Synology support is second to none; the support forums can be a bit stagnant, but if you email Synology direct they are usually very quick and helpful; they answered several questions from me regarding compatibility with my PS3 and Samsung Smart Hub TV software with 48 hours. If you're planning on using your NAS with multiple devices, especially non-PC based ones such as Smart TVs or Sonos music stations, I'd definitely recommend a Synology device because I'm not sure I'd trust a cheaper model with very basic firmware to be able to do what you want to. Remember, using a NAS is a lot more involved than just plugging an external HDD into your device and even though manufacturers sell devices as DNLA-certified, doesn't mean they're guaranteed to work!

2.0 out of 5 stars Snapped in first use, 29 Jan 2012

I used the large one of these to try to remove a stubborn oil filter on the car and the handle snapped clean off at the joint between the black and blue plastic. Can't have been exerting more than 20 Nm of force, so suspect it must have been defective. I've given it two stars, because they seem well designed and would probably work quite well if they were properly made!

5.0 out of 5 stars Confused!, 6 Dec 2010
Firstly, let me say that I've owned this racquet for nearly 5 years (playing very regularly) and have been extremely happy with it. Not only is the frame fantastically light and rigid, but the strings supplied with it (Dunlop Dura Ace) are a nice fine gauge offering brilliant control, which you often do not get on cheaper racquets.

However! I specifically purchased this racquet based on the fact that it was advertised as 100% titanium construction, because my less-than-careful swing has resulted in several previous carbon racquets being broken rather easily against walls/floors. This racquet had been bullet-proof up until a couple of weeks ago, when I struck my opponents racquet very hard, creating what I thought was a dent. As the paint flaked off, it revealed what was unmistakably a carbon-fibre construction which has split through to the nearest string hole.

The crack hasn't spread any futher and the performance of the racquets doesn't seem to be affected too much (perhaps a small drop in the amount of power generated in fast shots). For this reason, I suspect the frame might be a Titanium core, clad in carbon fibre perhaps? I am rather annoyed by this. How can you advertise a racquet as having 100% Ti construction when it clearly doesn't. AMAZON, SORT YOUR ADVERTISING OUT!!!

I still give it 5 stars though, cos it's brilliant.

4.0 out of 5 stars My thoughts...., 5 Dec 2010
I've just purchased my second pair of these headphones (after losing the first!) and thought I'd post my views to address some of the other reviews here.

(1) Sound Quality - for the price, I would say the sound quality of these headphones is excellent. The bass is full and well balanced and the mid-range and treble are always very clear and crisp. They're not going to blow you away (they do lack a certain punch), but they certainly perform well compared to others in the price-range.

(2) Fit/Comfort - arguably one of the primary reasons for buying 'clip-type' earphones like this is that they don't drop out or come loose, when walking or doing sports. I've tried a couple of over-ear 'sports-type' headphones with an earbud and still problems with them staying in position. I find that these headphones sit very firmly in place even whilst running and are very comfortable (and they have the added bonus of keeping your ears warm!). After trying on my new pair the clips did hurt my ears a bit (as did my old ones when they were new) but I think the springs loosen up after several outings, because it soon stopped bothering me.

(3) Durability - I had my last pair for nearly a year and they lasted extremely well. The retractable wire means that it never gets tangled up or kinked and the jack plug is also protected. The only problem I had was that the rubber lining on the earclips started to come away after a couple of months, but this was easily fixed with some superglue.

In conclusion, these headphones are fantastic value for money and I'd definitely recommend them, especially if you want some no-fuss headphones for sports or running.
