4.0 out of 5 stars thank goodness for the iPad and Uncle Google., 17 Dec. 2012
Well written, easy to digest. Some entries lack a picture, thus a tablet computer and asking Uncle Google helps. In the darkdays of pre-internet, this might have to be a trip to a major public library's reference section, hoping there would be a copy of Janes guns of the world or that classic book by Col John Weeks and Ian Hogg. Quite a few guns esp the Eastern Bloc types are repeated. Space could have been saved as having a footnote like other users/manufacturers/variants.

The Jungle Beat: Fighting Terrorists in Malaya
The Jungle Beat: Fighting Terrorists in Malaya
by Roy Follows
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 11 Sept. 2012
This book revealed some interesting facts, that even many Malaysians today are not aware of. One was the use of turned SEPs who were re-armed and used to hunt their former comrades, the SOVFs. Another was the leaving behind of doctored munitions for the CTs to pick up and reuse with unhappy results (for the CTs). It is a great pity that there are very very few non-european ex-Malayan Police and Military chaps who have written about their experiances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Chinese food not Lemon Chicken or Deep fried Wontons., 5 Aug. 2012
At a time when sadly some of the old folks who knew these recipes in my family are no longer around, this book is a very welcome addition to my collection of cookbooks. My family roots are from the same region as the writer, so the recipes bring back many memories of meals of yesteryears. For those of us whose life journeys have seen us resettle in very foreign lands, this book is a strong reminder of what we are and what sustained our old folks.

5.0 out of 5 stars 64 pages only but good enough reference for collectors, 2 May 2012
For a good many years I could afford to start collecting militaria but with a nomadic lifestyle then it was not a great idea. So I went into collecting the books that collectors would have in their libraries. This is one that is a must have for collectors of British webbing, when cotton canvas was king.

5.0 out of 5 stars can feel my heart miss a beat just looking at the cover!, 25 Nov. 2011
Having worked before in South east Asia and had my fair share of close encounters, I must admit I have had enough, but still why do I have to read this book and repeat the mental trauma again? Hmmm just like the jokers who must touch the wet paint despite the sign CAUTION WET PAINT. Once upon a time in Singapore we had a wee dog that will growl and be on alert even if we showed him a picture of a snake. Here in NZ, our dogs have no experiance of snakes. Our border collie did not seem disturbed by the cover while a pix of a tiger can spook him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello Kitty!, 25 Nov. 2011
This review is from: The Big Book of Pussy (Hardcover)
Ah...at last, in its full glory and colour, the beauty of womanhood, no pixels, no airbrush retouching and no black marker pen defacing by Mullahs or Postal clerks. This is not just top shelf stuff, this is pure "under lock and key reading material". This book can land one with a hefty fine, cane and jail in some of the countries that I have worked in before.

Once the largest and most well equipped Army in South East Asia, now all but forgotten. About time their story is told.

Even if you are not a fan of military history, searching for the mouse in the paintings by Terence Cuneo is just as much pleasure as reading this book.
