5.0 out of 5 stars Madness Oui over the competition, 5 Nov 2012

Madness return with an album that captures many of their past styles on one album. It has a refreshing new perspective and yet sounds comfortably familiar - not an easy truick to pull off. The songwriting remains the core strength - great tunes and top lyrics in the traditional Madness style. This cd is a total bargain and gets better with each listen...

Gloria and Pharrell create a masterpiece blending thumping rhythmn and latin beats in a highly polished collection that is uplifting and energizing. All topped off by Gloria's distinctive vocals. A great cd after an 8 year wait - well worth it

As per the other reviews this is well worth a try - how many cds can boast 12 classic dancefloor stompers. Not a duffer in sight. Shame it will not get the recongition and sales it deserves - but don't deprive yourself - you won't be able to sit still....

5.0 out of 5 stars Was it funky - sure was !, 19 April 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
the first proper career retrospective from Was not Was is a fantastic tribute to the inventiveness of the group - bizarre lyrics all layered over top tunes, with the superb vocal talents of Sweet Pea Atkinson and Harry Bowens make this a standout disc. A frequently underestimated group this is a superb addition to any collection - put the music on and out come the freaks.....

A great first novel from a new author, in the ilk of Mark Billingham, on the scene. I am already a big fan of the flawed but loveable Delaney and look forward to following his future adventures. Well worth a read.

I stumbled across this book having been enthralled by the Kevin Lewis novels and the plot for this sounded good. However this book was absolutely superb - great characters, a superbly gripping story and turned out to be the definitive book you can't put down. A superb debut novel and I will be awaiting the follow up with eager anticipation. If you are in 2 minds give it a buy - you won't be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars howard stirs it up, 15 Sep 2005
This review is from: Revolution of the Heart (Audio CD)
Revoloution of the heart is a stonking album that shows the experience of a songwriter and musician at the top of his game. All 10 tracks show the utmost care as Jones and cohort Robin Bronniman sculpt electronic perfection. The superb guitar work of Robin Boult adds to the mix for an album that must be up with the best of the year. For me Howard is at his best on the title track, Another Chance and the superb Stir it up. If I had a request for the next cd it would be more of Shaz Sparks superb vocals. For old HJ fans I would urge them to buy this - its great !

5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic package of New Romantic music at its best, 13 May 2003
These first 13 Duran Duran singles capture a new, innovative, fresh band at the height of their popularity. Superbly presented in a box set with all the original single sleeves it gives fans access to classic b-sides never before available on cd, including the fantastic Khanda and Late Bar. I am particularly pleased a View to a Kill and its instrumental b side were also included to make this the ultimate package, representing great value. Duran continue to evolve and produce great albums (try "Medazzaland" a completely under rated classic)
but this box set shows why they were the justifiably most popular band on the planet in the early 80's and why their music demands re-evaluation and recognition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carson creates another winner, 8 Mar 2001
This review is from: Final Duty (Hardcover)
Having read Paul Carson's previous two books, I eagerly awaited Final Duty. Reading it on holiday I was gripped as the author took me on a roller coaster ride that ended in his usual style with a suspense filled climax.
I thoroughly recommend this book, and both Paul Carson's previous books if you are looking for a thriller that you just cannot put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars the material girl continues her journey to pop perfection, 22 Nov 2000
This review is from: Music (Audio CD)
Another brilliant cd from the queen of pop. Each song oozes a class that Britney et al can only watch and aspire to. Mirwais provides enough new direction to ensure this is no Ray of Light2, but a work of genius in its own rights. That said some of the best tracks are those with William Orbit at the helm, particularly the track Amazing...which is just that. "What it feels like for a girl" is another highly original cut, abd whilst the less than brilliant American Pie is included the absolutely stonking Brilliant Stranger is not there - why ? Buyt this cd and boogie the winter blues away...
