Short on course work-title deceiving, 2 Dec. 2011
This book does not live up to its name. Although it might be considered a resource for a classroom setting or someone interested in historical photos, the actual "course" is a simple one paragraph insert for each lesson that emphasizes artistic interpretation not technique, equipment, lenses, etc. As a home resource it is very limited and I would not describe it as a "course" by any interpretation. My perception of a course is that there should be actual interactive lesson plans where he or she would learn useful information about how to take a portrait such as lighting, lenses, aperture, etc., and then build upon each lesson. Do NOT purchase this book if those are your goals.
