5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, thought-provoking, 21 May 2015
This review is from: Oceans Apart (Paperback)
An absolute delight! I couldn't put it down, being totally caught up in this beautifully written fish tale. A gripping story, but thought-provoking tool. Between you and me, I don't think it's really about fish :-) I haven't found anything else from L B Baxter - let's hope there's more soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authoritative, comprehensive, well written, appropriately targetted., 10 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book has reminded me of the importance of well-written books about computer programming, even with today's vast quantity of high quality technical info on the web. Michael Kay puts XSLT firmly into context, which is particularly important for a programming language that is unlike most. Experienced programmers should not be put off by the description "Programmer's Reference" - there's lots more than reference material here. Inexperienced programmers should probably look elsewhere if they are looking for a tutorial on XSLT.

1.0 out of 5 stars Blunt after 5 holes in corrugated steel :-(, 15 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Yes, the 3.5mm bit was blunt after just five holes drilled in average gauge corrugated steel. This was probably a case of getting what I paid for: I then paid £3 for a single tungsten bit to replace the blunt one; the tungsten one is still sharp after a further 200 holes in the same sheeting. So, from now on, I'll use these for wood only.

Wilkinson Sword Blades Classic Double-Edged Razor +5 Blades
Wilkinson Sword Blades Classic Double-Edged Razor +5 Blades

5.0 out of 5 stars Real men say no to multi-blade nonsense!, 1 Sept. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For me, this is so much better than a "modern" multi-blade system, for the following reasons:
- If it gets clogged, you can easily loosen the blade and rinse away the clogging.
- Shaving is quicker, because having two edges, you only need to rinse the razor half as many times (shave, turn, shave, rinse) per shave.
- The blades seem to last longer, and are cheaper to replace than multi-blade cartidges.
- I'm not encouraging the razor manufacturers in their arms race towards absurd numbers of blades per cartridge!

Perhaps the shave is not quite as close as a brand new 5-blade (!) cartridge, but quite frankly, who cares? The quest for the ultimate close shave (for the first hour after you shave) is just something the ad men want to push. Real men don't care!
