To Get Her Together
To Get Her Together
Offered by MasterDVD
Price: £4.34

5.0 out of 5 stars Anouk is the most under rated singer song writer ever, 20 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: To Get Her Together (Audio CD)
Also this release shows once again...95 % of the music she has made reflects passion, personality, talent, originality and above all dedication to bring the best of her talent to the public. She deserves to be a world star in the music business, which position was never allowed to her, because she does not want to sacrifice her life to the managers and media bosses....
She is single-minded in living her own life but what a female energy and honesty she puts into her work !!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars she sings deeply what she feels and experienced, 5 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Who's Your Momma (Audio CD)
Very talented, nice choise of songs, serious about feelings, strong individual character who is no hostage or play-doll of the music business, she does exactly only what she thinks is right for her, ...and a natural beauty on top of that !
Exceptional combination of strong features for a popular music star...she will not end up like weaker characters who can not stand the fame and rubbish their talent like Amy or others...!

Nineveh and Its Remains (Travellers & Explorers)
Nineveh and Its Remains (Travellers & Explorers)
by Sir Henry Layard
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars heros of time forgotten, 21 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I hope people of today will get rid of their obsession with 'stupid & lurid celebrity' of today and start to read the lives and accomplishments of real heros of mankind of which A. H. Layard is a perfect example ! The book is an eye opener together with the biography written on him (he was called famously "The bull of Nineveh"). It gives an insight how brave, energetic, unique and unforgettable this man and others of his time (in many other scientific fields) have been to keep the intellectual and cultural side of humanity alive against all (consumer) banality, intellectual degradation and aimless culture creeping into society of today !

Yes: Acoustic [DVD]
Yes: Acoustic [DVD]
Dvd ~ Yes
Offered by best_value_entertainment
Price: £7.50

5.0 out of 5 stars warm and engaging while full of incredible talent (proven again after all these years), 26 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Yes: Acoustic [DVD] (DVD)
The session is a bit short but it is such a warm engaging event, with very good sound and marvellous original version of the songs performed, interwoven with the piano of Rick Wakeman who leads us through the session. Jon Anderson is in such good spirits on this acoustic session (and he is the heart & soul of YES) They are all guys who like to play a gig as good as they can, but stay with their feet on the ground (maybe Chris Squire is not doing that entirely), remaining modest in spite of their celebrity status and talent. Really a proof that true talents for music mostly remain 'original human beings' however rich and famous they become...if they survived the wild 70' of course

All things Jack does, can look simple and even sometimes a bit careless, made without too much fuss or big set up, but there lies his great talent,
to keep it simple and still to malke it sound so unique, idiosyncratic and authentic !

5.0 out of 5 stars pure nostalgia, 9 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Singles (Audio CD)
Pure nostalgia for unique Dutch classic rock and pop music with depth of musical spirit and a special female voice !
The last 4 tracks are of course much more commercial but that does not take back the gems
It will never come back, to cherish therefore !

Ancient Egyptian Religion: An Interpretation
Ancient Egyptian Religion: An Interpretation
by Henri Frankfort
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.61

5.0 out of 5 stars written so long ago and still so fresh, 23 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
What a great holistic insight into the religious mindset of the ancient Egyptians has this writer-scientist. Some books can date from anytime in the past and still shine as a continuous bright source of deep and clear knowledge. Henri Frankfort seems to be one of these rare bright minds (another expert on this, Erik Horning acknowledges this as wel) that can illuminate our mind on a subject otherwise opaque and difficult to understand. Man fears time but time fears the pyramids...and the shining wisdom of Henri Frankfort...!

5.0 out of 5 stars the real thing, 23 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am 52 years of age and a melancholic Flemish listener to Dutch pop-music of the 70' and 80'(Focus, Earth and Fire,...). Jan 'makes' the typical 'Focus'- sound for me into a 'physical' event, he personifies this unique sound by his talent on electric guitar, as only he can recreate this atmosphere, esp. on this live CD full of gems.
Some known tunes, delicately reperformed with zeal and less known things but all fine creative work in the real spirit of his music. There are 2 pieces where Jan allows his band members 'to do their thing' (solo drum and solo bas), but there is so much else on the double CD, that these freewheeling moments do not disturb or affect the CD (in case you do not like the freedom of performing a long solo going away from the core of the number played).
I also bought his last album, called 'Minor Details'. It is still good to hear new work from him (very professionally produced) but it has not given me the same vibrations of his past solo CD's that relived the 'Focus' atmosphere as the 10.000 clowns...does.

5.0 out of 5 stars milestone of insight in political doctrine mindset, 9 Jun 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
...65 years old, a milestone of a book, originally metaphorical for one of the most devious political systems ever (Stalinism). The manipulation of the brain and the reality to match the greed of those 'who are more equal than others'. Now still a book as an incredible tool to help to understand and to 'peel off' the political agenda of most regimes based on ruthless national or religeous doctrine and status-quo for the happy few in power (Birma, North Korea, Iran, Eritrea, Ukraine). Recently there are more and more of 'the same pigs walking on two legs' under devious cover of what has become unfortunately 'the one size fits all justification' for a kind of FAILED STATES gathered under the sacred catchword 'DEMOCRACY' (Democratic(!)Republic of Congo,Russia, Egypt, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, Belgium). Countries with freedom of vote and speech ...until you are earmarked as a liability for your opinions against the status quo of vetted interests (naked self-enrichment /mankind as macro-parasite) and depending on the local 'traditions', you get threatened, killed, publicly expised, diabolized, expelled out of your job. Burningly actual today once you enter into the deeper mindset of the human species as it creates time and again political doctrine and clever covering up the real powers behind the facade, manipulating the mind of the citizens to hide the deeper purpose (ruthless selfglorification and self-interest at all costs). The book is the final cry for intellectual self-development 'to think on your own two feet' and less state (doctrine) interference with our personal fate and choices.
