Interesting story line, well written, just an excessive use of bad language spoilt it for me in places. Still worth reading.

Personally I would have very unhappy to have paid for this story, it is just to short. You just get to the part where the reader is getting involved and this book just ends.

Too short to really be able to provide more than a neutral review, easy to read, reasonably believable characters but too short to determine if the story holds up well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy read but story could have been stronger, 20 Dec 2014

Whilst the story is fast Paced and easy to read, the number of lucky escapes and breaks were just too convenient for my liking.

Whilst I enjoyed the majority of the book, one particular event felt very contrived and for me spoilt the overall story. I also found the ending to be a little rushed and more could have been made of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good edition, 8 Dec 2014

This review is from: Halo: Broken Circle (Paperback)
Broken Circle is essentially the story of two Sangheili and San'Shyuum (Elites and Prophets) families from the start of the Wirt of Union up to the failure of the covenant. It functions very much as a standalone story. Whilst there are references to events and characters you will know (destruction of Halo, demon etc.) these are simply to give you historical perspectives on the events this story tells.

In conjunction with Greg Bear's Forerunner trilogy, this adds some more to our understanding of the San'Shyuum.
All in all an easy ready and good characterizations

2.0 out of 5 stars like many others, 15 Nov 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Destiny (Xbox One) (Video Game)
I, like many others, had high expectations for this game, it however does not live up to the hype by any means. If you are looking for a game that has:
- Story
- Balanced Gameplay
- Variety
- Good matching
Then this game is not for you.

What this game offers:
- A story line that is pretty much non-existent.
- Unbalanced gameplay
- Very little variety
- Having to grind out extra's (weapons, armour) <- meaning you will repeat strikes so often that it becomes truly boring
- Appalling matching
- So-called "Social" approach to gaming <- this experiment is a big failure.

Given Bungie's experience and the expenditure, this game should have been equal or better that Halo; they failed miserably. This game should be killed off, and they should start again this time using the knowledge gained from Halo instead of trying to do everything different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great package, 14 Nov 2014

This games really does live up to the hype. Once you master the menu system everything opens up, and this is a great package. Only downside was the excessive initial update 15GB.

Note to Bungie: This is what Destiny should have been.

Vitals
Vitals
by Greg Bear
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.18

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 14 Nov 2014
This review is from: Vitals (Paperback)
In general, I found the writing style very different to other Greg Bear stories and more along lines of Dean Crawford or Clive Cussler and hence I was very disappointed. In addition I found the story to be quite muddled, confusing and lacking that special something that normal sets Greg Bear's book apart from the rest.

The Lost Stars - Imperfect Sword (Book 3) (Imperfect Sword 3)
The Lost Stars - Imperfect Sword (Book 3) (Imperfect Sword 3)
by Jack Campbell
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.39

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the series so far, 19 Oct 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The best in the Lost Stars series by some margin and proof that Jack Campbell is back to his best. The story continues straight on from the previous book, as do all of the Lost Stars and Lost Fleet stories, so no change there.

In my opinion by far the best of the books to date. It is far more varied, the characters including fringe character are given more "air time" creating more of a relationship with them or at least making them feel more human and the overall story is less predictable. This story shows it has the scope and characters to be able to continue the story without becoming repetitive.

As for the story, no spoilers from coming from me, the blurb on the book should be sufficient. I would simply recommend reading it. If there were any complaint it would be the last few pages waffled a bit and could have been less drawn out. However, it may also be an indication where the next story will be heading.

Cyclops
Cyclops
by Clive Cussler
Edition: Paperback
Price: £6.74

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read, 12 Oct 2014
This review is from: Cyclops (Paperback)
This was my first book by Clive Cussler, so I had few expectations or preconceptions. Overall the story and the pace of the book were good but the main character had so many escapes from death that it took the edge of an otherwise good read.
