From the short clips, and from the few YouTube videos there are I could hear this was something special. Did not realise how special though! The stand-out tracks are "She curves, she curves" with fantastically percussive jazz flute, ear popping Hammond playing, and some ultra nifty drum soloing; and "Like It Is" with its luscious sax.

Feet tapping, organ-trio soul-jazz stirring stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you've seen NCT live, this is a treat..., 16 Jun. 2014

For me, the tracks "Kneel Down" and "Queen" are utterly sublime. They bring back some wonderful memories seeing NCT live in Regent's Park and being taken away with the music to another place. Aaahhh.

Not so much the catchy tunes of Face of Mount Molehill, but lovely musical journeys. Along the way you'll be treated to beauty and wonder (e.g. Sparklings), and more than a little wit and madness (e.g. Gang of One, Coach Slouch).

Love it.

Buy it, crank it up, and enjoy ;-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb mix of ambient, electronics, and jazz, 16 Jun. 2014

I stumbled on this album having searched for other Neil Cowley work, and knew this would be a treat.

Not disappointed at all! Elements of Fragile State, Pretz, and other NC work, but with a great orchestra and Finn Peters on sax.

There's some incredible Rhodes work (eg on Hallucinogenic and Waiting For Space) - I can see Neil's ultra mobile right knee at work in my mind's eye.

For me, this album has almost eclipsed "Touch and Flee" that was released at the same time, and is an album I can listen to several times a day without tiring of it. Lovely tunes, tight production, brilliant musicianship, and a very positive and enjoyable feel to the whole album.

Just buy it ;-)

I stumbled across Chilly via the Daft Punk Collaborators videos, and discovered this gem. From first listening it sounded strangely familiar, like listening to old classical masterpieces.

Have listened to this practically daily since buying. Personal favourites are Kenaston, Minor Fantasy, Rideaux Lunaires, and Othello.
A quality piece of composing and performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful company and excellent screen protector!, 29 Mar. 2013

After initially getting a protector that wasn't the right size for the newer K5IIs screen, @FoliX crafted a new one to the measurements I provided.
Absolutely perfect fit, and a very nice product. Seems to keep the smears off the screen better than the naked screen. Slight niggle is that the protector has a subtle texture to it that creates a slightly softened look to the high resolution LCD.

Going to see how it works in the field :-)

I had managed to stumble on "The Transatlantic Sessions" on TV one night... what a find!
Alison Krauss sung a couple of tracks that are on this album and I was blown away (excuse the cliche!).

If Alison's voice wasn't enough, there are tracks sung by Dan Tyminski (responsible for "Man of Constant Sorrow" on O Brother Where Art Thou ;-). Fabulous.

Quality music :-)

If you liked the laid-back, chilled-out feel of "la femme d'argent" from "Moon Safari" then this album is definitely for you.

One of my all time favourite Air albums ;-)

Koss QZ-PRO Black Headphones
Koss QZ-PRO Black Headphones

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible!, 18 May 2012
My initial thought was that these were pretty comfortable, and the noise reduction certainly did reduce the low-frequency sound quite a bit. However, do be aware that not much of anything else is reduced electronically (though the cups provide some isolation).

These headphones are probably the most cheaply built Koss units I have ever seen :-(
The plastic construction is flimsy, and the design of the "Y" shaped fittings on the cups is pathetically weak - once broken there's nothing you can do to fix them (there is just too much outward force).

Now having got a pair that cannot be fixed, I disassembled and was astonished to find the most rudimentary electronics inside! Transistor based noise reduction and poor assembly, and drive units that are certainly nowhere near the quality of the excellent Porta-Pro series.

All in all - I'd say avoid them!
I've a cheap pair of Sony noise cancelling headphones that are uncomfortable to wear, but do a much better job!

Sorry Koss - you've made a dud! >:-(

5.0 out of 5 stars Under my skin already..., 23 Jan. 2012

I'm on my third playing already and it's only half past eleven on the day of release!!

The Face of Mount Molehill has combined the energy from previous NCT albums - Rooster Was A Witness and the title track being prime examples - yet has some achingly beautiful melodies that give me the goosebumps.

The addition of strings, and other subtle additions (see the "Making Of" video on the NCT web site!) has added another dimension to the superb trio. Some parts take me back to Neil's Pretz album.

The opening "Lament", "Meyer", "Skies Are Rare" ooze with lovely strings - there are hints of Einaudi piano + cello. Hugely uplifting!

Have to say I'm having a little trouble digesting "Fable" with its dischords, and the laughing on "Mini Ha Ha" track is creepy! LOL! Having seen the video there's definitely some Neil Cowley fun and a trifle madness behind the tracks.
UPDATE: Actually, "Fable" is seriously growing on me!!

Top stuff from the trio - toe tapping, head rocking, heart lifting, jazz goodness :-) to see if I can get to any of the gigs!

WARNING: Amazon have _two_ versions of the MP3 album - one has an extra track!! Wish I had noticed this before :-(

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent photo printer!, 2 July 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having run my original Epson Photo 870 into the ground I replaced it with the Canon iP4600. At the moment Canon are running a £20 cashback scheme on it - which was very helpful!

Image quality is excellent (on pearl paper), with very fine detail. The quality almost rivals the professional imaging outlet that I use for photographic work! Even on plain paper the results are very pleasing - great for letters to family with the odd image included.

Print speed is superb - it seems much faster than a similarly priced Epson that we have at work. Duplex is useful - though don't expect laser speeds since it has to wait for the ink to dry before printing on the reverse side.

Time will tell how economical (or not) the ink costs turn out to be, but certainly for now I'm a happy customer :-)
