2.0 out of 5 stars sam bailey - the power of love, 27 Mar 2014
This review is from: The Power of Love (Audio CD)
there is no doubt that sam bailey is talented and capable of breaking into todays top 20 as she showed with her debut single skyscraper ; if the rest of the album had consisted of some new songs and original covers then the cd would have had the same impact at the breakthrough single ; unfortunately she has reverted to being a very good karaoke artist covering clichéd songs which no doubt will appeal to the cruise ship audience but if she really wants to be a contemporary artist in her own right then she has to sing some r n b numbers , discover some new songwriters ,take some new material and take a few risks - she has the talent and she can do it . The rest of the cd does not match the quality of the track skyscraper .

I think Sam Bailey is talented and I liked Skyscraper which she sang beautifully and the song sounded like a contemporary no.1 hit ; but for the most of this record she has reverted to cruise ship standards which are just ordinary ; on the X Factor she covered a beyonce track very nicely but on this record there are no contemporary r & b numbers , she has taken hardly any risks , it is a safe record that might appeal to the theatre and cruise ship crowd but not much for the young pop pickers of today - there is no pure soul tracks , rock tracks or even country tracks and so nothing that compares to skyscraper , disappointing
