5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant and really handy!, 18 Jun. 2013
These keys are excellent.

They seem to be very reliable data-wise and they fit handily on a key ring too.

Definately recommended as a good option in the ocean of USB key choices out there!

2.0 out of 5 stars Better Lullaby albums out there, 18 Jun. 2013
This review is from: Hushabye (Audio CD)
This is okay.. glossy and slick, and pretty in parts, but if you're thinking about getting a lullaby Cd - have to say check out the brilliant Sophie Barker / Rainbow Collections one- "Lullaby" first

That one Lullaby is a lot more beautiful and effective as a bedtime album and sends us & the little ones off to sleep nightly! It's really quite special and magical - a real classic.. unlike this one which is just, well, okay.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cosmos was better, 2 Mar. 2008
This review is from: Contact (Paperback)
I'm a huge fan of Carl Sagan, but found this particular foray into fiction the only book of his to be well, a bit boring.

Don't get me wrong, it was really good in places, but for a story it was a little over-technical (ironic from a writer who usually managed to make the most complex and technical things very easy to understand and poetic)

I saw the novel through to the end out of respect to the author (who from his other work I consider one of the greatest thinkers of our time), but have to say, read all of his other books first ('Cosmos' is the best intro to Sagan world in fact) as only a fan will have the loyalty to enjoy this one fully

Cosmos: The Story of Cosmic Evolution, Science and Civilisation
Cosmos: The Story of Cosmic Evolution, Science and Civilisation
by Carl Sagan
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome., 2 Mar. 2008
Awesome. I can't think of a better way to describe this book. Carl Sagan deals with the grand cosmological issues in such an easy to read, almost romantic way. On many occasions during the reading of this book, I had to put it down to fully let the words (usually some incredible statement about life the universe and everything) sink in (usually with a 'wow!')

A fascinating and engaging read, covering an incredibly broad topic base, from evolution, to space travel, to ancient history.

Literally an incredible read. I can't wait to re-read it in fact, knowing full well I'll enjoy it even more

5.0 out of 5 stars A hidden gem, 2 Mar. 2008
This review is from: Telescopes (Audio CD)
Telescopes is not only very beautiful sounding but it has this amazing panaramic, grand film quality to it. KK's music reminds me a little of Pink Floyd and the soundtracks of Danny Elfmann, really taking you on this weird and wonderful epic trip.

The little narrative parts are great too - a little like the fantastic books of Carl Sagan, mindblowing and inspirational.

A great album to listen to late at night and get totally lost in, especially out under the stars!

2.0 out of 5 stars good but not the best (scariest), 30 May 2007
This review is from: Scary Music (Audio CD)
pretty good halloween party CD featuring a fair few of the classic horror themes, especially great to hear pieces from Danny Elfmann and The Exorcist.

It's a good fun warm-up CD for a halloween party to create a fun horror atmosphere, but found it a little inconsistent qualitywise and the running order/choice of music was not always perfect and so didn't build an effective scary atmosphere - I find the CD 'Raw Fear' much better for actual genuinely scary creepy music which sends those shivers down your spine once the lights go down and the candles are lit in time for ghost stories, Trick Or Treat and Murder In The Dark!

1.0 out of 5 stars bl**dy awful (pardon the pun), 20 April 2007
to be fair some of the effects are so bad they sound funny, so points for comedy value. this was one of the many 'horror sound effects' Cds I bought and trawled through before finding the fantastic "Raw Fear" Fx Cd (part of Raw Fear boxset) which actually had properly scary noises on it I could set off randomly at my party and prank my mates with!

2.0 out of 5 stars atmospheric, but could be better, 20 April 2007
don't get me wrong. I love the soundtrack to the original Halloween, it is an absolute classic making great use of space and ostinato themes to create a geniunely unnerving atmosphere. it really made the film work (which as a movie in itself wasn't that great). this compilation is not so well paced though I have to say, if you want a fantastic horror atmospheric music cd you're better off going for the original Halloween soundtrack or something like the excellent Raw Fear boxset, or one of Christopher Youngs soundtracks

3.0 out of 5 stars a blast for halloween parties, 20 April 2007
This review is from: Halloween Hootenanny (Audio CD)
top partytunes for a halloween knees up. we had a wicked Halloween party recently with this playing in the dancing room and the notorious Raw Fear CD playing down in the (smoke machine filled) cellar for proper spooky atmosphere.. it worked an absolute treat, a great vibey party all round - we even ended up telling ghost stories all night and playing Murder In The Dark despite being in our late 20s!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Buffy Season - must see viewing!, 19 Dec. 2006
Buffy is a love or hate thing (it takes a few consecutive episodes to know which camp you fall into), and even within the people who are into Buffy there are those which like the early 'fun' episodes, which are more like one-off adventures and more like kids/teen trash TV (though still highly entertaining). Season 5,6 and 7 of which this, season 6, is the best have huge story arcs and character/plot developments and subtlties which span not only the entire series but the entire history of the show, ie all the episodes link up to make one big story.

If you have a spare week or however long it takes to watch this, do it. The Times once reviewed this season of Buffy as the best television programme ever made - I couldn't agree more.

Pure fantasy entertainment that you will become addited to
