This worked a whole lot better than I expected, and much longer than the original Sony battery. Chargeed up perrfectly and took ages to run back down to zero, double the originals duration - something like 2 1/2 hours.

That's my title and just my opinion. But, I've been to Jerez quite a few times - the first to do a Flamenco Guitar course. (They said they would like me back as a blues guitarist - my Flamenco didn't go well - but apparently nobody plays the blues in Jerez!)

Anyway, Jerez is where all the Sherry starts out on its journey across the whole World. Although sherry matures mainly in the three towns of the Sherry Triangle - Jerez, Sanlucca de Barrameda, and El Puerto de Sta Maria - each givesa particular flavour - Jerez imparts the most complex of these. La Ina is stored and matured in Jerez, and about 80% of the local bars stock it. If you ask for "hereth" this is probably what you'll get straight from the fridge into a cold glass - about 200ml is a normal quantity - not the mean little drink aunty used to sip!

La Ina is a great drink before a meal, just a session drink throughout the afternoon, or pre theatre. It's light, but a complex taste that's full of lasting flavour. In Jerez, if you want to go sweeter they drink Oloroso - also from the fridge - but much better quality than we get in the UK at Aunty's. Expect to pay about £14 for a good bottle.

And nothing tastes better on stewed apple, apple pie and/or ice cream than a slug of Pedro Ximenez. Almost too sweet to drink from a glass, this is a thick sweet dark sherry, at the extreme end of the sweet end of the range, is a delicious accompanyment to Christmas Pudding or a pour on sauce for apples and or ice cream.

I've been made redundant six times in my business career. In the last recession between 89-92, four times - trust me, this film is like reliving my worst moments. Despite being good at their jobs, central characters are made redundant, without much hope of them to ever achieve the same positions again. It's the most accurate film I have ever seen to experience what this sort of economic setback feels like.

It is strange that many reviews here seem to knock the film for being depressing, for being too realistic, for filming issues to do with the current economy. These reviews are the same as those you saw for the TV series "Boys From The Black Stuff". Heralded on its launch as depressing, downbeat, and way too over stated. But you know, in time its been held up as a classic, identifiying the mnay issues that the unemployed and redundant face. This film is the high level management version of that TV Series. The characters have much more unlikeable personalities. (That they are so unlikeable might being saying more aboutour attitudes than their's.)

That the characters are rich, is more a product of their hard work over decades - they are where they are in the same way as a lawyer becomes a judge over time, a politician becomes a minister, or a dishwasher a resturant owner. Where they are isn't the story. What happens is the story. Corporate unfairness. Organisational fickleness - the role of a dice. Capitalism and free markets can be tough. These guys are learning, perhaps for the first time, they are no better than temp workers, employed to do today's job and laid off when tough times come around. All that corporate "we're a family " stuff finally held up and shown what it is - a tactic to keep everyone working without being businesslike - without taking the same attitude big business does when laying off staff. The "family analogy" left to one side - apparently its now not firing, just resizing, its not the sack, it's not personal, it just a business decision.

None of our central characters will ever have be the same, or behave the same again. It's a tough lesson to learn. But they are all going to be stronger, more considerate, more caring than they have been so far. Trust me, I've been through it. PM me if you need to.

5.0 out of 5 stars An old but great classic book, 15 Nov 2012

This is one of the classic works for learning the acoustic guitar. Focused on learning classical music, you can take your next steps after completing book 1 with this book 2.

You might like to use Leavitt's books as well in parallel so you have plenty of graded pieces to work on.

Well I gave this a good try. I tried getting it out of the tin within 30 seconds - lost half the edge. Tried leaving it in until cool - couldn't unstick the middle but the edges came out. Tried greasing it all with butter, with marge, it sort of was halve as bad - but still got the complete sponge out only the once. Last try of the six, ........oh sod it the whole edge came off even though I greased the inner with what I though was too much butter.

I'm goign to get a metal, non stick one and to hell with all this silicon stuff. If you don't want to feel loke I do righht now 30 minutes before a dinner larty - then look elsewhere for yxour perfect mould! Nobody could say I didn't give this a really good try.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great New Set of Bass Exams, 27 Oct 2012

This is the Grade Eight electric bass exam from Trinity, the music univerrsity that has cently merged its exam activities with The Guildhall School of Music - so it comes from a great pedigree. Thesse new books hit all the righht marks covering playi three pieces that are written in the books - so no going off and trying to assemble all the music from other books - and aloow students to either improvise a piece or play a sight reading exercise instead. Its all in one book. Nine levels from Debut to Eight. Competitive prices on taking the exam and a well respected Board by other interested evaluators like the University you might apply to. Also these exams are UCAS recognised so you can earn some more points towards your University applications. Grade Eight is like getting another A level - not quite worth the same as an A* but more like a B depending on how well you pass it - Pass / Merit / Distinction.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buzzes and Low Volume, 27 Oct 2012

I don't think I have ever written a one star review ever, but this little mic has me beaten. I've tried it without power - and it hardly has any output so you run it at such high amplification it hums and buzzes like crazy, and I've tried it in a Sony Camcorder that has Plug In Power - more volume but the humm and buzz still makes it impossible to use. I'm giving up on this one unless somebody out there knows what I'm doing wrong. However I am a musician and record from my home studio, so if it was something easy I must have missed it after taking a dumb pill that day. It's either faulty or isn't built to use seriously. I'll try it now on my mixing desk and with an adaptor try to feed it phantom power and see how that works, or doesn't - but for now I feel its a waste of more time

This is the main book I go through with all my students. Written in TAB AND standard notation it makes an excellent book to start playing the bass. This book and the exam materials will take you up to about Grade 5 or 6 but you'll need more stuff to get better than that. Try the Ed Friedland set of books - Walking Basslines, Improvistion, and Extending Walking Basslines. Then move on to Gary Willis.

4.0 out of 5 stars You'll Love it, Or Hate it., 15 Oct 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Now I've watched the film I can see why some people love it and others feel it's stupid. Its more in the style of a childrens film than one for adults. I could see that a group of children from 8 to 14 liking it a lot and enjoying watching it with their parents. If you don't have children, maybe you won't get it and leave bad feedback. Or if you take life very seriously, this isn't for you.

This film has a great deal of fun in it and you'll need to watch it twice - once for the main story - and again to watch all the hillarious things that are happening in the background to the main action. (The scout camp would be a health and safety nightmare by today's standards - the film is set in the 60s.) The stars of the film are really not important and anyone could have played the parts so long as they could do what Bill Murray or Bruce Willis can do with a comedy script. (When you watch the film you'll understand what I meant.)

Overall a great film to watch with 8-14 year olds and anyone who has a sense of fun. If you are not in those catagories, try The Shipping News which is also set in a remote community - but much more serious. The Shipping News [Blu-ray]
