3.0 out of 5 stars Competent but dull cop show., 22 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was watchable, but the Bosch character is like most other cops you have ever seen - bit of a maverick, apparently single and likes the ladies, and despite appearing close to retirement, dates young rookies! The procedural stuff is very earnest and po-faced, and I longed for a massive injection of humour to liven things up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs a proof reader., 4 Oct. 2014

This review is from: Printer's Devil Court (Hardcover)
This book was spoilt by the large number of errors in the text which annoyed and detracted from the atmosphere. It felt like it had been rushed out to cash in by Halloween - or maybe the Printer's Devil had got at it!

This Kindle edition has so many mis-spellings and other errors that it completely spoils the read. It is a constant irritation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilled this has been re-issued!, 28 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For years, this was my go-to book for feeding my family well and economically. It finally became so battered and stained as to be something of a health hazard, so I binned it and have regretted that ever since. Now I can have a lovely new hardback! Grateful to this week's issue of "The Lady" for mentioning the re-issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unconquered, 4 Feb. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Sadly, this is a pointless book, except perhaps in making the author feel better. It is meandering and unfocused and tells you nothing about UC that you won't already know. Worst still, it isn't true that the author "conquered" the disease. If you are looking for a cure, don't waste your time and money with this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The adventures of "2 tea towels" Johnson, 4 Oct. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Wickedly funny, name-dropping, dirt-dishing expose of life in the offices of the sedate ladies' journal. There is truly never a dull moment! The story is filled with wonderful characters and fascinating insights into the production of the magazine. If you knew little about The Lady, this will bring you up to speed, and if you thought you knew, be prepared for surprises!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sound Advice, 6 Mar. 2010

Although this is science-based, the book is really easy to read and understand and written in a relaxed and friendly way. It is very informative, but the suggestions made are so straightforward that you can started right away, with no need to spend lots of money either. A simple 9 day plan with a few basic products are all you really need to see genuine inprovements in your skin and general wellbeing. Worth re-reading regularly to remind yourself not to be taken in by the latest miracle cream!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking read, 7 Sept. 2009

Suggs loves life (and London). He has lots of enthusiasms, like clothes, music (of course), footie, pubs and eccentrics; all featured here. The book is full of fascinating facts and funny stories, and is well written in Sugg's own inimitable style. Highly entertaining.

These are wonderful stories, absorbing to read, but leave you wanting more. Each of the very different characters and situations in these varied tales, could, you feel, sustain a whole novel on their own. With a light and deft touch, the author summons up a whole fascinating world in every story; at times unsettling,or touching,or mysterious. "What happened next?" is what you long to know as these tales linger in the mind.
