4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to jQuery for beginners, 22 Aug 2012
A solid book for beginners who are not familiar with jQuery or JavaScript. Some great, easy to follow 'recipes' to follow for everyday things a web designer might need - carousels, slideshows, etc - and plenty of screenshots and description in the walkthroughs to orientate you if you get stuck.

Some of the recipes are redundant, in that you can already achieve the same effect with CSS2, but I guess the concepts shown are useful to beginners.

Overall, a pretty good basis for designers with no knowledge of jQuery to start picking it up!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid book if you have an understanding of Inkscape already, 19 July 2011
The writing style is accessible, with easy-to-follow 'recipes' with a specific goal at the end, and there's a lot of inspiration in the book. However, if you're totally new to Inkscape, this book is not for you (you might want to try Packt's other Inkscape book, Inkscape 0.48 Essentials for Web Designers if this is the case). The author jumps over the very basics (there are plenty of online tutorials for the basics) of Inkscape in favour of more advanced recipes.

The book features some very cool artwork created solely in Inkscape, and covers a lot of material, and as a prolific Inkscape user of several years I found hints and tips I hadn't come across before. The only chapter I found disappointing was chapter 9, 'Web Graphics Presentation' - it was too brief to be of any use to beginners, and too basic to be of use to more advanced readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joss Stone at her best, 7 Jan 2010
This review is from: Colour Me Free (Audio CD)
Joss Stone's new album is the songstress at her best - great mix of softer songs such as '4 and 20' and the catchy 'Free Me' and 'Could Have Been You'.

My only disappointment were the use of cover songs ('You Got the Love'), and the frankly amateur attempt at the cover/inset design.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Lost and Damned - Good; Ballad of Gay Tony - Superb, 7 Jan 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
2 fantastic games:

The Lost and the Damned actually makes driving motorbikes pleasurable (unlike the original GTA IV game), which was my primary concern when I ordered. Whilst TLAD was good, it didn't add much to the game itself other than ~25 additional biker-themed missions and a few new weapons.

The Ballad of Gay Tony is superb - Rockstar etc have put a lot more effort in to this game than TLAD - on completion of each mission, you're awarded marks for lack of car damage, time it takes, and your remaining health and accuracy of shots, which makes for greater replay-ability. Additionally, the missions don't just start with the traditional 'drive her, drive there' - there's a bit more thinking (well, shooting) and involvement from earlier missions, which is refreshing.

TL;DR: Great even if you haven't played GTA IV (which you don't need to play the game) - heavily recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic - quick, timeless comedy, 15 Feb 2009
May be a few years old, but the quick-paced, well-written comedy is timeless - as others have pointed out, there are some great quotes and situations in it, and whilst it's not quite as sharp as the radio series, it made an excellent transition to television.
