4.0 out of 5 stars Revenge is a Dish best served Sweet!, 5 Mar 2008
This review is from: Sweet Revenge (1990) (DVD)
An Intelligent funny romantic-comedy drama played-out by a divorcing couple Attorney Linda Michaels(Carrie Fisher) and John(John Sessions)a languished writer in the Us from Paris where they have both based themselves over the last several years.

The "Catch" is as John financially paid and supported Linda through law-school and studies from inheritance moneies he had, the Court Judge ruled in favour of John receiving ailimoany payments from ex-wife Linda to the tune of $250,000 he had invested in her now very successful-career until such time as John remarries.

Linda then hatches a plan to coach a struggling actress Kate(Rosanna Arquette)into playing Johns "Perfect-woman" so as to not be held to the ailimony aggreement anymore.

As follow's many a hilarious and tender scenarios ensue. Without revealing a 'spoiler' ending, John learns of Linda's scheme and enlists girlfriend Kate & friend Philipe's assistance in a plan of his own of "Sweet Revenge".

Filmed entirely on location in Paris,France and suberbly written,directed and performed by all cast members,Rosanna Arquette,John Hargreaves,John Sessions and special mention to Carrie Fisher in a 'rare' leading-role performance 'tailor-made for her'.

"Sweet Revenge" is a very enjoyable and entertaining hour & a half movie suitable for all. Recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars For the Fans, 9 Aug 2007
This review is from: Slipstream [DVD] (DVD)
Though I am a Fan of "Slipstream" and it is a good now cult-film this dvd version doesnt represent a good transfer.

It is is in no way better than it was in video format, there is no remastered picture and its still fullframe with nothing extra added.

Sound however is better than was for video but that's not saying much given its just been shoddily shoved out there to the fans whom desreve better.

However produced by Star Wars,Empire Gary Kurtz as an post apocalyptic story of bounty-hunter Mark Hamill hot on the heals of Bob Peck(android) killed his previous master and nerrer-do-well Bill Paxton doing his :AlienS" stick again down the slipstream with android becoming AI "Atifical Intelligence" chase and message pre AI;
Is good tale with excellent actors Ben Kingsley and FMurray Abraham cameos and some wonderful location shots and flight sequences but to dvd this is not a superior viewed version as indicated by other reviewers.
For purists and fans only, for quality this transfer leaves much to be desired for its sale price.
