A delightful treat, 30 July 2013
Can the french make chocolate? Yes, they can indeed!
Without being any kind of chocolate fanatic I have to admit that this box is fantastic, you get a nice mix of chocolate covered hazelnuts, almonds, cookie-like dough (like Maltesers in consistency) and last but not least orange rinds/peels. You get a mix that roughly equals (in total volume) 60% nuts (same about of both kinds), 25% cookie and 15% orange rinds. The hazelnuts and cookies are covered in nice and smooth tasty light chocolate while the other two are covered in dark. What really makes these treats stand out is the overall taste experience, you can actually taste the inside and smooth chocolate on the outside without getting a bitter taste or get that cacao fat taste and consistency while melting. That said, they aren't sweet either which often is an issue when you mix fruits and chocolate. While this box is about twice as expensive as your run-of-the-mill chocolate in your local store they're well worth it and since the taste is more distinctive and lasts much longer so one or two are enough to get satisfied per serving.
If you're looking for something better than the "premium" assortment in your local store this is a very good option, the only downside is that when you taste this you realize how bad generic chocolate bars really are. On the positive side, you'll save that money for this instead.
