5.0 out of 5 stars Make a difference, 8 Jan 2011
This book is very inspiring and is one of the best books I have ever read so far. It talks of how any person can make a difference in the world and can change the world if they believe. It is a truly amazing book and talks of many different people's stories including young children and how they changed people's lives.

I like how while reading this book you can really relate to God because it helps you along the way, leaving lines to write down thoughts you would like to share with someone. This book really helped me connect to God and realise that if I try and believe that I can make a difference I can help people little steps at a time, it gives children the belief that there is hope.

I also like the way they have used bible extracts that relate to the chapter I think this is really good and helps children learn messages and people that are in the bible. I think this book is worth reading if you need some guidance and help but also when trying to connect to God and trying to find a place to start. I really loved this book.

Max Lucado - Out live your life

"These are devastating times 1.75 billion people are desperately poor; one billion are hungry. Lonely hearts indwell our neighbourhoods and attend our schools. In the midst of it all, here we stand you, me and our one -of-a-kind lives. We are given a choice.... an opportunity to make a big difference during a difficult time. What if we did? What if we rocked the world with hope? "
Max Lucado

I have to be perfectly honest and say it took me a while to get into the book. I loved the Father Benjamin Fable which reminded us that we live on in what we do. Yet I still struggled to get excited. I then realised that I hadn't grasped what Max was trying to tell us.
Jesus' early followers had a mission to spread the word of God by not just speaking but by doing. By asking for nothing yet giving so much. Acts of kindness, acts of bravery and acts of faith.
I use the word acts here as it is the book of Acts that we can turn to for inspiration. Yes the world has its problems but I do believe we all are looking around and saying "what can I do?" in a defeated manner when in reality it should be "see what I have done?"
Max inspires us to outlive your life, to achieve things that are beyond yourself. Create things for others, love the unlovable. Just as Jesus did!
Max reminds us that some of life's greatest achievers have been ordinary people who became extraordinary.
This book is an aspiring read that makes you examine your live and ask yourself some real questions about who you are?
It is time now for us all to start showing each other the compassion the love we ourselves receive from our Saviour.

The Edge of the Divine
The Edge of the Divine
by Sandi Patty
Edition: Hardcover
Price: 10.39

3.0 out of 5 stars A read for sandi fans, 17 Aug 2010
This review is from: The Edge of the Divine (Hardcover)
When I received The Edge of Divine with Sandi Patty I was rather concerned I had ordered a weight loss self help book. This was not at all what I wanted and thankfully there is a lot more to the book.
Yes it does focus on Sandi's desire to become slimmer and healthier, and the drastic way she achieved this goal. It also shows the way Sandi needed to change the way she viewed herself from the inside before she could change her outer self.
I did enjoy the book but I think I struggled at times due to the fact that I haven't read her previous ones. As on a few occasions she refers to an event in her life briefly and explains that she had written about it in previous books, this left me wishing to know more and may have opened this book up to me more.
The Edge of Divine is an easy to read book, it is obvious Sandi is a woman of great faith. I just felt there were areas that needed more explanations. In saying that, any fans of Sandi will enjoy the book immensely.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Challenge, 9 July 2010
This review is from: Storm Warning (Paperback)
In Storm Warning, Billy Graham shows us the similarities between the natural disasters tragedies and terrorist events of today and the book of revelations.
It's an amazing the connections that he makes, it's a challenging read. It opens up Revelations in many ways. Bringing us faith for the future. The world may be chaotic but our Lord knows all.

This book was a challenge but well worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you for this book, 2 May 2010
Friendship for Grown-ups. Lisa Whelchel

This is the first book I have reviewed for Book Sneeze and I have to say it has blown me away.
Lisa writes as if she is talking to your heart. I believe God was to be found within the pages of this book. Lisa writes with such honesty that you find yourself feeling the emotions within your own heart. She bares her soul and in doing so she allows you the freedom to bare your own.
Reading this book has made me feel less alone, amazing how we imagine we are the only ones in the world that struggling with friendship. Reading that Lisa was afraid of friendship was such a revelation for me. I wasn't alone, my thinking was normal.
Thank you seems inadequate when I tell you the courage I have found from reading this book. I read the book in one sitting. Straight after reading this book I emailed my friends and took a step out into unknown scary territory of true friendship.
I pray Lisa continues building her friendships and thank her dearly for being so open and honest. This book is a must read for women who believe guarding their hearts is what God wants for us. Trust in the Lord he will always be your best friend but has also graced the earth with others we can call best friends forever to.
God bless. Xxx
