I have always had a desire to know more about the life and times of Richard lll for I found it hard to believe that circumstances could change his personality so drastically. I therefore watched the TV program, not sure of what to expect but hoping for more information. It was most interesting but posed as many questions as it answered. So I bought the book.
I liked the format a great deal - personal and emotional chapters interspersed with detailed factual ones. This made the book very easy to read. It was also evident that for Philippa Langley the search for Richard's grave was the culmination of several years of hard work and personal belief and she managed to express her feelings throughout the excavation and subsequent laboratory tests in such a way as to involve her readers in the highs and lows of each discovery.
Michael Jones supplied the calming approach. He set out the provable facts about Richard simply and concisely and though the co-authors couldn't agree on the main question of whether the sons of Edward IV were indeed killed by, or on the order of Richard, he explained that the way people lived and behaved at the time could go some way to mitigating their actions.
The fantastic success of the excavation in finding Richard's body and thereby revealing the truth about his stature and death at the battle of Bosworth can only help to increase our knowledge of these times.
This is a book to set you thinking.

See comments above about why I would not be without this product in the garden. I use this diameter for shrubs.

I have used this product for some time though I sometimes have difficulty finding it! It is ideal for gardeners - strong, flexible, easy to cut and tie and can be used over and over again though it does lose some of its flexibility over time.
Flexi-tie is kind to plants of all descriptions, doesn't rub and 'eat' into the bark of trees, doesn't rot and is kind to slender stems. Produced in three thicknesses, it can be used on any growing thing and often in the house as well. I wouldn't be without it

The Girl Who Chased the Moon
The Girl Who Chased the Moon
by Sarah Addison Allen
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical Reading., 24 Oct. 2011
If nothing is going right for you and you need something to lift your spirits, this book is for you. Gently magical, endearingly romantic, this happily ever after book is a joy. All Sarah's books have some queer little incidents recurring throughout - in this one it is wallpaper in Emily's room that changes colour and pattern. On the death of her mother teenager Emily goes to live with her grandfather, a very tall gentleman she has never met before who lives in a dilapidated house in the town of Mullaby. She is befriended by her next door neighbour, Julia, but meets a surprisingly hostile reception from other residents of the town until she meets Win. He is the son of the most influential family in Mullaby. It turns out that everybody has secrets: Julia has a past, Emily's mother did something dreadful and left town under a cloud and the Coffrey family males.....well, read the book for yourself!
