Not good enough for price, 29 Dec 2010
I have read all Iain M. Banks books to date and feel that he has been treading water for some time now. Despite this I would have bought his latest effort at the right price. However, as I am now a Kindle owner, the idea of paying more for an ebook than for the hardback edition is unacceptable. I downloaded the free sample and since I didn't even finish that, I will not be buying the full version in any format unless the price falls significantly.
On a related issue I agree with those who protest at the imposition of VAT on ebooks. If the purpose of books being zero-rated is at least in part to encourage literacy, there seems no justification to add 17.5% (soon to be 20%) to the price of books in a different format.
