5.0 out of 5 stars Review of the DVD - seen in preview at Odeon West End, 22 Nov. 2010
For all those thinking of pre-ordering the DVD, I have just seen a preview of the DVD at the Odeon West End. The sound quality is amazing, and the recording it truly excellent, with just the right amount of close-up shots and wide shots. I am pretty sure it was all footage from the evening show, there were no problems with the background screens, and all the extra songs at the end were included.

Obviously I can't say about any extra features, but the performance was amazing and I would definitely recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than I had expected, 15 Oct. 2009
I thought this was a really brilliant DVD with excellent performances by all cast members.
After reading other reviews I was slightly apprehensive about Idina Menzel's performance, but I thought she was really good! Definitely worth watching :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD, but could have been better..., 1 Jan. 2008
After seeing the live tour i was really excited to watch the DVD, which is excellent and features all of the performances from both professionals and celebrities.

However, before purchasing the DVD, you should be aware that the DVD is only made up of footage from the Sheffield show, so the judges and bolero winner are from the Sheffield performance only.

Also, the DVD doesn't feature the special guest performance of the Russian Skaters, which was dissappointing.

Finally, the DVD extras aren't very impressive, as the "behind the scenes" section lasts about 10 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good, 27 Aug. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: . (DVD)
I would especially recommend this film to AS or A level German students, as it is very useful to watch. Furthermore, it is a very enjoyable film, with many superb acting performances, and a strong cast.

Although at times hard to watch, due to the harsh subject matter, this film is gripping throughout!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 27 Aug. 2007
I have just watched this DVD for the third time, and would wholeheartedly recommend it. I also want to add about the Extras on disc 2 - there are some of the main songs from the show, sung by Sarah Brightman with various others, including Micheal Crawford and Cliff Richard!!!

These are really worth watching, as is the making of... section.

Overall, superb acting and singing performances, well worth a watch!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite Good :-), 16 July 2007
This review is from: Cabaret (Audio CD)
~*~ After seeing cabaret at the theater (starring kim medcalf) i was very keen to buy the CD as some of the songs are very catchy. Overall, the CD is very good with some excellent performances, esp by Emcee (James Dreyfus).

However, i would say that if you have seen the show with Kim Medcalf as the lead, you might be dissappointed with the vocals of Anna M Martin (Sally Bowles), as they are not nearly as good as Kim's.

The cd features all the songs from the show, and is definatley a worthwhile purchase. ~*~

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Musical DVD, 29 Dec. 2006
This DVD is definately worth buying, especially if - like myself - you did not see the stage show. The performance is full of energy, and the close up shots develop character relationships very effectively.

The bonus features are also really interesting to watch, especially the making of cats, which shows you just how much work went into the show. Elaine Paige's performance as Grisabella is especially worth commenting on, as it was full of emotion and very well acted and sung.

Overall, a brilliant DVD, and one you will want to watch over and over again :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping read, 26 Sept. 2006
This review is from: Memoirs Of A Geisha (Paperback)
I would thoroughly recommend this well crafted and gripping book. It covers a wide range of ideas in perfect detail, and gives the reader a unique insight into what it was like to be a Japanese Geisha before, during and after the war. My only criticism would be that the ending was slightly too perfect, but overall a book well worth reading.

Perfect Match

3.0 out of 5 stars Same Jodi Picoult, 26 Sept. 2006
This review is from: Perfect Match (Hardcover)
When i started reading the book i was gripped and wanted to find out what happened. However as the storyline developed, i would say i agreed with the other reviewers who say that Picoult's books are too samey, and the ending was real dissappointment, as if it had been thought of in a hurry as a way to tie up lose ends. I found the characters hard to relate to, and difficult to like, although i found the small sections told from Nathaniel's point of view very effective and personal.

Overall i would say that if you have read other Jodi Picoult books, like My Sisters Keeper or Salem Falls, you are not missing out if you don't read this book. Do we really need another Picoult happy ending?
