Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Dreadful, a word i have never even thought i'd use about a discworld novel, i have loved the series but this drivel surely cannot be the work of the author that gave us guards guards, witches abroad et al. It just doesn't gel at all. Disjointed story telling, shallow characters, trying to squeeze in a cameo from all his great character creations and then making them so weak as to be unrecognisable. The people who have given this rubbish 5 stars have either read a different book or have no idea as to the quality of the rest of the discworld stories. Must agree with other reviews that there is a very strong feeling that Sir Terry didn't write this book. If this is to be the final book in the discworld series then it is truly a very sorry end to one of the great creations of the fantasy world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent offering, 23 Oct 2014
This review is from: Sacrificium (Audio CD)
Gutted when i heard Manuella had left. (Wonder why they can't hang on to vocalists very long?). However they have managed to bring in another superb vocalist in Dianne. With this album Xandria have continued the step up in class that started with Neverworlds End. After stopping myself comparing Dianne to Manuella (Though, and i must stress the word preference here, my preference is for Manuella's slightly lower vocal range) and listening to this album in it's own right i found another excellent offering from the band. Long may it continue. (Hope they can hang onto Dianne longer than other vocalists they've had).

5.0 out of 5 stars A true step up in class, 17 Jan 2013
This review is from: Neverworlds End (Audio CD)
I've always liked Xandria but felt they were a 3.5 star band. Something was missing. However since the addition of Manuela on vocals everything has taken a real step up in class. The songs are stronger, the arrangements much more powerful, the playing is superb and the real icing on the cake is Manuela's vocals, which are just incredible. Hopefully a new dawn for Xandria and i for one look forward to their next work. Comparisons to Tarja era Nightwish are inevitable I suppose, but that can be no bad thing, and being totally honest i think Manuela has the better voice of the 2. Where Nightwish have gone backwards with the change of vocalist, Xandria have taken a huge step forward with this offering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top class sound, 5 Sep 2011
i bougth these as a replacement for my Sony MDR EX700 phones which i had trod on and broke. Though the sony earphones were very good i find these earphones to be even better. After messing about with the large choice of earbuds to get the right fit, the sound is 1st class, both bass and treble are clear. I am hearing things in tracks that i have not heard before (One track even had backing vocals on that i had not been able to hear with previous earphones) Expensive but for me worth the price as i use them everyday.

1.0 out of 5 stars Suprised they are allowed to sell this game, 13 May 2011
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Venetica (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
The game itself is enjoyable. However because of a very serious glitch it is unplayable. Every time you save a game then key characters that you HAVE to engage with to progress from an area disappear. it seems the only way i can play this game would be in 1 continuos session and not saving the game at all. They should not be allowed to sell this game until this save game issue is resolved. This glitch is a crying shame as i have enjoyed palying the game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average, 21 Mar 2011
This review is from: Dark Passion Play (Audio CD)
Whilst Tuomas continues to write strong songs Anette's vocals just aren't in the same league as Tarja's. Anettes voice just hasn't the power to bring to life Toumas's songs as they deserve to be.

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dragon Age 2 (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Most sequels are a bit of a dissapointment after the original, however everything about this game is an improvemnet on the original, graphics, gameplay, loading times are all improved, little tweaks such as not having to constantly change companions armour, less time running about doing nothing between areas (This is my only complaint with many rpg's is the time spent running from area to area and then back again). Overall an improvement on the already excellent origins.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 weeks and still waiting (Update 23/3/11 Now happy), 21 Mar 2011
Not very happy. Ordered on the 2/3/11 and 10 days later still not arrived. To be fair to Amazon they responded quickly to my email saying it hadn't arrived and then dispatched a replacement foc. However the replacement hasn't arrived either. i have been told to wait until the 22nd before contacting them again. i don't see what the difficulty is in getting this product to me as other goods ordered have arrived fine. i will await their response should it not arrive by the 22nd (Which i don't think it will). Surely with high value items they would send it by a carrier that is trackable and not rely on the not always reliable 1st class post system.
Update 23/3/11 well would you beleive it, this morning a post van arrived to deliver the Kindle that should have arrived on the 15th, then 10 minutes later another van arrived to deliver the Kindle that should have arrived on the 4th (No wonder the post office lose money). However the Kindle does what it says on the tin. It is easy to use, the screen is fantastic, i can read it just as well in bright sunlight as i can in subdued lighting, no screen glare! The ability to alter the font size is fantastic as it means i can still read it if i forget my glasses. Buying books is extremely easy via wireless. Some nice features, such as creating groups, which enables me to store books by their genre, to make them easier to find. It's also nice to be able to add mp3 files so i can have background music palying whilst reading. Also it is able to play audio files so i can listen to books whilst out walking. Now very pleased. To be fair to Amazon their customer support has been good whilst i was waiting for the Kindle to arrive. My wife liked mine so i have asked Amazon to charge me for the foc replacement and i will keep both.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore reviews regarding sound quality, 16 Jan 2009
I have had this ipod for quite a few months now. At first i was hesitant to spend so much based on the reviews regarding sound volume and quality. However as i have had the 80gb 5th gen ipod i decided to trust in Apple and go for it and upgrade to the 160gb classic. I am very pleased with the sound quality and volume (Very rarely do i have to turn it up above 3/4 volume). I am also well pleased with the battery life, listening to music i find i am getting about 30 hours playback between charges! Also the ipod is very robust, having dropped on the footpath it sustained no damage at all. (i dropped my Creative Zen about 2 foot onto a thick carpet and it broke the hard drive). Overall a very good product (Though things like coverflow and games for me are a waste of space as they are features i don't use)

5.0 out of 5 stars Tarja Nightwish Succesors, 26 Aug 2008
This review is from: Katra (Audio CD)
If, like me, you feel Nightwish were weakend by sacking Tarja and miss her vocals, then this is the ideal succesor to that. It is a cracking album, mixing heavy music with soft ballads, over which Katra's vocals rise and soar. The only possible downside to this album is the songs are sung in Finnish, but that still doesn't detarct from the beutiful sound they have created. Looking forward to the 2nd album due out in September which i understand are done in English.
