5.0 out of 5 stars a great helmet, 9 Oct. 2012
As fans of flip front helmets this was bought to replace an HJC I-Max for my better half. Liz is ordinarily indifferent with new gear, preferring to stay with the known quantity of existing equipment.

However, a quick test in a shop whilst on holiday opened her eyes to the comfort and fit of this helmet which quickly resulted in a purchase - a testimony to how 'nice' this helmet looks and feels. The first ride out endorsed the initial reaction - very quiet (far quieter without earplugs than the HJC was with earplugs), easy to use visor/chin bar system and exceptionally comfortable. The vents have yet to be properly checked for effectiveness during warm weather.

The only down points worth noting are:
* visor misting - not noticeable worse than my Nolan at misting up, but potentially less effective at clearing suggesting that the anti mist vents are not as effective
* the chin 'skirt' which fills in the gap between throat/neck and the helmet bar brushes the face when the bar is being lowered. Frustrating on its own, but really annoying when an intercom boom is close to the mouth as it knocks it away. We will be removing this skirt at the risk of making the helmet noisier
* limited space to fit an intercom system, everything being close fitting unlike the Nolan, HJC, and Shoei helmets. It is possible to fit an autocom without cutting but you need to work at it
* replacement visors (not that we need one!) appear difficult to source online but should be available through the dealer network - although dealers are few and far between. When Givi were asked to name my nearest dealer they failed to reply - not encouraging!

As always, helmet 'fit' is very personal so whilst it has been great for Liz please try before making a purchase.

Small, light and easy to erect. Well suited to being carried on a motorcycle.Whilst not necessarily a legal requirement if you are riding in a group there is always the possibility that there will be a breakdown and this significantly improves visibility at the roadside.

3.0 out of 5 stars mixed opinion, 7 Mar. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First the good bits - cheap (at £38 incl p&p it's great, at £99.99 it would be rubbish), multi purpose, easy to set up, easy to use, ability to fix against a wall, whilst 'plasticky' I have seen far worse at this price point, quick delivery by Desire IT, acceptable sound considering the price point but would not suit those with a keen ear.

Now the not so good - advertised as having a "Universal dock to recharge your iPhone / iPod". Do not interpret this as meaning that it will PLAY all iPods. My 'Classic' will charge but NOT play unless you frig the system by taking a 3 pole/3.5mm/male&male lead from the iPod headphone socket to the Aux facility, although it can be left in the iPod cradle to charge. Disappointing as this was the very facility that I was looking for!

For reference the box quotes Nano 6th Gen 8&16GB, Nano 5th Gen 8&16GB, Classic 160GB (2009), Touch 4th Gen 8&32&64GB, Touch 3rd Gen 32&64GB plus Touch 2nd Gewn 8&16&32GB.

In summary, disappointed with iPod connectivity, but reasonable value and well suited as a modest system in a working room e.g. kitchen, garage, summerhouse, conservatory or teenagers room. Unless you are on a strict budget, purchase a more dynamic system if you want it in your living room and/or you want good sound reproduction.

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible product, 4 Dec. 2011
Bought to restore the headlamps on a 1999 Ford Focus with 90k miles under it's belt. The headlamps were still sufficiently clear to pass an MOT but sufficiently impaired to reduce their effectiveness - even with Osram high power bulbs. To say that this product was a revelation would be an understatement. 5 minutes on each lamp with an electric polisher fully restored their clarity. Whilst not returning them to 'as new', the appearance of the car plus the enhanced night time vision were extraordinary. I was sufficiently taken to try it on a large motorcycle screen which had lost it's clarity. This too was greatly enhanced with minimal effort. I guess that time will tell whether these improvements will remain but at worst it has postponed the purchase of replacements, at best it has removed the need for replacements. Very happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent piece of kit, 1 Dec. 2011

bought for use with a netbook. Compared to external CD/DVD readers of old this is excellent - a simple 'plug'n'play' drawing power from the netbook enabling quick reading of disks. Would recommend.

I now have a couple of these mice for our two laptops. They are small and light, readily connect, have a long battery life and are relatively easy to use if you have large hands (although I wouldn't recommend them for everyday use). However, best of all they appear to work on pretty much any surface. As an addition to a laptop used 'on the move' they are very good.

3.0 out of 5 stars good book, but....., 27 Aug. 2011
This is a very well researched book and one of the more comprehensive publications within the Battle Ground Europe series on the Somme. However, its very hard work to read. If you like to read events in a chronological order then this books will cause you pain. Inevitably battles, especially across a broad front, do not readily lend themselves to chronological reporting but this book bounces around more that a kangaroo - one of the very worst books that I have encountered in this regard. A very good book for researchers, a terrible book for more casual readers.

1.0 out of 5 stars what's the point?, 19 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
With hindsight I should have read the description more closely. There is 1 major external item that this docking station doesn't connect to - a screen. You can therefore have a larger keyboard and mouse, but remain stuck with the small screen which is a complete pain if you are using a netbook. This really leaves me wondering about who this product is aimed at, other than people like me who fail to fully read the description. In simple terms, don't bother buying this.
