The Complete Guide to Mid-Range Glazes: Glazing and Firing at Cones 4-8 (Lark Ceramics Books)
by John Britt
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £24.99

4.0 out of 5 stars There are photographs of test tiles pictured at the bottom of each page but it is not always easy to find the corresponding glaz, 20 Dec 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very thorough review of mid-range glazes, particularly cone 6 versions of reduction-fired classics, including celadon, tenmoku, kaki, shino etc. The format is the same as the author's previous book on high-fire glazes, with tables comparing glaze recipes of each type. There are photographs of test tiles pictured at the bottom of each page but it is not always easy to find the corresponding glaze recipe. The materials used in the glaze recipes include mostly North American feldspars, frits and clays.

4.0 out of 5 stars My copy looked normal on the outside but had 3 chapters missing., 30 Sep 2013
This review is from: The Exiles Return (Paperback)
I received this book as a gift. I was really enjoying reading the book and was gripped by the stories of the characters. I read the first sixteen chapters in one afternoon, unable to put the book down. Very frustratingly, when I reached chapter 17, I found three chapters, pp.185-216 of the book were missing and pp.81-112 were duplicated in their place. Strangely, this happened a page after the start of Chapter 17, which begins "The first page of this chapter is missing from the original typescript". I am now waiting to receive a complete copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting story woven into the legend of the phoenix, 4 Jan 2013
This review is from: Daughters' Dilemma (Paperback)
This story weaves the legend of the phoenix into the lives of three great women in history and the discovery of their link on an archaeological dig in Egypt. The archaeologist travels from Egypt to Cambridge, Tunisia and France, finally getting caught up in a political and personal upheaval in India at the end. Her travels and the food she eats are beautifully described.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping tale of how Notonthehighstreet.com was built, 12 July 2012
I really enjoyed the personal insights into how this business was built. Very useful advice on PR, marketing, social media, advertising and accounting. A useful chapter at the end advises on how to juggle running a business and running a home and family. A gripping and useful book.
