3.0 out of 5 stars Good brush with silly RRP and silly app communication., 20 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I love oral-B electric toothbrushes. I've had them for years and when they die (usually batteries no longer hold charge) then it straight to amazon to buy another one (always at reduced price, they are never RRP). This one comes with one head and charger (2 pin shaver socket plug). It has "sound connectivity" which seems to connect to an app. That is basically crazy. The older Oral-B used to buzz every 30 seconds so you could change where you were brushing. So people are so addicted to their phones, they now want to look at a toothbrush app while brushing????? Personally I think that's crazy, but maybe I'm just getting old and moany?

In conclusion it's a good brush, but the app thing is silly and the RRP is also silly.

Fisher-Price Spray-n-Lights Whale Bath

2.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed, bad boyancy and generally not great, 20 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This basically squirts water, but it does not have the power to make the ball "float" on the spray as indicated (but not stated) on the packaging. Its a rather pathetic squirt too and quite noisy.

As the whale fills with water, it is very unsteady, often virtually tipping over.

The battery compartment is very well sealed, so it is very stiff to remove. The thrird battery which is ahrd to remove. There is not one of those small pieces of fabric you can tug on to get it out.

Overall, this is a very uninspiring toy. My kids loved it the first time, then after a few times it was boring. They much prefered some empty bottles to fill and empty.

Snuza Hero Mobile Baby Movement Monitor

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but with some minor issues, 17 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a lovely small piece of equipment, smaller than expected. It mounts to the front of the nappy by a clip. You must be very careful that the soft silicone vibrator piece touches the babys abdobmen so that they can be roused by the machine. It is very sensitive so cannot be used when there is movement (e.g in a car or plane).

There is a mode that can make it tick when m ovement is sensed (off, tick or loud tick). Most of the time this is not needed, but if your baby is ill or you worry then this would be reassuring.

It takes a CR2 battery which is readily available and cheap. Not sure why the Amazon page seems to suggest very expensive batteries all the time. Just type CR2 into the search.

It says it can connect upto other Snuza baby monitors and cameras, but does not explain how to do it or part numbers. A little bit strange if they want to sell other accessories.

My only criticisms which resulted in 3* are:
A) It is expensive when compared to more substantial movemenent/breathing monitors, such as those by angelcare.
B) The alarm is too quiet. It is like a loud digital watch. If you're fast asleep or downstairs I would doubt you would hear it. We had an angelcare and when that thing went off it was so loud I leapt out of bed (which is want you want if your child has stopped moving/breathing).
C) It is hard to turn off, i need to stick my nail into the on/off button to get it to click.

This is a good, reassuring device. I would recommend it to all new parents for piece of mind. If your child has a medical condition or has breathing issues, etc then I would look for one of the bigger devices that has a proper loud alarm.

Hot Wheels Super Speed Blastway Trackset
Hot Wheels Super Speed Blastway Trackset
Price: £21.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, but one car and not very durable, 17 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Easy to put together but I cannot see this being long lasting if you need to keep puting it away. It uses some fairly lightweight plastic. That aside it is easy to assemble. The pictures are misleading since they show two cars but you only get one, so it's not much of a race! A pack of five cars is very cheap anyway so it's not a big deal. There is also the ability to join together with other hotwheels tracks to make a monster track. That would be awesome, but expensive if it was to get really big.

Overall with two cars this is great. Bear in mind it's durability. If your kids are a bit destructive then maybe wait until they calm down.

2.0 out of 5 stars Caught in the middle of many better solutions, 11 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
As many other reviewers have said, this book is solely about programming with Microworlds EX. You need to buy it once the free trial has ended.

Secondly, the programming language I believe teaches bad practises. For example, in written English a quote is written with "speech marks around it". In programming languages, many do the same such as string helloText = "hello"; but this language starts with a speech mark but does not close them. I would think kids would find this very confusing when they're being taught languages at school.

The whole reason of learning to program at a young age is not really to become a developer, but to learn logic and reasoning skills. With this in mind, many young coders could go on to become developers. I found it strange that the language uses different terms from the norms such as primitives which in many langauges are methods or functions. Objects seem to be called turtles. What if you had a turtle turtle? That would be confusing. Why not use similar names to mainstream languages?

Opportunities for background information are missing, such as why is a bug called a bug? Kids might find it amusing to know that with old computers the error in the program was actually caused by an bug (literally). In other places, such as one of the "math connections" the book describes what coordinates are, it then says that Rene Descartes is credited with the method. Why is this even relevant? Surely explaining what "debugging" actually means is more valid of page space.

The example programs are nice, but by using the book you're not really learning to code, you're learning to use Microworlds. There is no real explanation of why you're doing things. There is a tiny bit of thinking at the end of each project on how to enhance the game, but this really should be throughout the book.

Young kids would prbably prefer scratch while older kids might prefer a proper Raspberry Pi and all the associated cool stuff. It's hard to know where this book fits in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good unit with poor packaging and A+ energy rating, 7 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
My unit arrived in perfect condition. Many other reviewers had damaged products on delivery. I would agree with them that the packaging is inadequate. It only has 1CM of polystyrene on all sides, so if it tips or falls during transit it will definitely get damaged.

Once you cut the cable straps, the box just lifts straight off which is handy. Once I lifted off the polystyrene and plastic cover I got a huge static shock off the unit, biggest static shock I've ever had. Just bear this in mind in case you have an implant that might be affected by this kind of shock.

You woul dbe able to fit 2Xw litre milks in the door in the "tall" section. There are several smaller door holders which are actually very deep. For it's size the fridge is very spacious, with a large salad draw and two deep areas seperated by one shelf.

Hopefully I can upload some images to go with this review.

It's a nice fridge freezer that would be great for one to two people. I have not heard of the brand before so maybe compare models and warranties before parting with your cash. Also if you have it delivered, be sure to check it before the delivery person leaves.

Incredible. Just like an ordinary tungsten bulb with equal amounts of light everywhere. Instant turn on and lots of very clean, white light. Not orange like old style energy bulbs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, not too big (not to small either) does exactly what it says, 7 Feb. 2015

I have two dashcams in the car, but found it difficult to get into any fights like the Russains on youtube. Hopefully with this sticker in the back, blowing my horn and driving under the speed limit will help. They always say that you can find out if an Audi will fit in the boot if you drive at the speed limit. I can't wait to try, all on film, with my new transparent sticker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing value and works really well, 7 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Amazing value. Came with the plug, USB cable (not very long) and was already charged. With my reasonable spec PC in use, it is only loaded at 12%. Very reassuring for the nexct time the tuble drier cuts the whole house circuit and upsets Windows 8 due to instant power off.

My only gripe is that the software asks for a serial number. I presume this was the one on the box & device, but it is actually printe din the manual. Maybe the should call it a "key" or "unlock code"? Remember to look in the manual for the key before binning it!

Incredible value. I've been after a long set of wood drills for a while and these came up at an amazing price. They will be so useful when I come to build my <insert wood item>. Will save time since I can drill massive pilot holes for coach screws and not spilt wood all the time.
