11+ Practice Tests for the CEM Test - Pack 2
11+ Practice Tests for the CEM Test - Pack 2

Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, 19 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These are practise papers for 11+ based on Durham University/CEM tests. They are not "genuine" tests from Durham as they are not available, but these are based on feedback from students and teachers so bound to be fairly realistic. In fact when I opened the papers it took me back a few decades from when I was doing my GCSE's. The font and images were the same! Anyway, the tests are based on maths, non-verbal reasoning, comprehension and verbal reasoning. There is an answer book in a fairly small font that explains the answers.

When you do these tests, I would be inclined to photocopy the pages so that the originals are not marked (otherwise this may sway your answers at a later date).

It comes in a nice little folder with the flap held down by velcro to keep everything safe.

Overall, a really to resource to help you pass your 11+.

5.0 out of 5 stars great, 19 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A well presented book with plenty of questions but also it acts as a text book, explaining each topic in precise detail. There is a whole range of questions from simple addition and "moving the decimal place" to units, algebra, real word examples (such as the floor area of a house to number of bricks in a wall). In the back of the book is the parents guide explaining what the 11+ is, what to do on the day, how to appeal, etc.

Overall, this is another good book to practise for the 11+. Practise makes perfect!

English was a boring lesson when I was at school so I never learned much about verbs and the like. It was doubly confusing going to the equally aweful French lessons confusing things even more with maculine and feminine. The book explains in simple terms english grammar terms with some amusing little cartoons. It keeps each definition really short so you don't fall asleep. There punctuation section is very useful for learning about commas and apostrophes. I had never even heard of "homophones" before!

Overall, a really good book for all ages.

This A4 sized book is very well presented in black and white with not too many images (which would be a distraction). It is full of great maths examples from the easy to hard. It also tests general mathmatical knowledge with questions about the time, shapes, angles, dimentions, etc.

It is aimed at Key Stage 2 - Year 6 children.

Some examples from the book:
What is the sum of the first three prime numbers
Multiply 0.0128 by 1000
What is double 34 (answer mentally within 10 seconds)
Work out 20% of 110 (in 10 seconds)
How many hours from 8PM to 4PM tomorrow (in 15 seconds)

Overall it is a really good book with a wide range of questons to suit all abilities

For solar lghts, these are pretty good. They don't run out of battery at night. They are on "low" during darness and go bright when movement is detected. I have them over my bin area, shed door and back gate. Easy to fit.

Only downside is that out of 6, I have had 2 faulty ones.

Read the warnings before use! Evidence of possible carconogen and dangers to breast fed children (plus other nasty warnings). These warnings are not mentioned on the Amazon page. No thanks.

2.0 out of 5 stars Recline feature is not fit for purpose., 2 Oct 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
On first delivery this is a very well made item. It needs minimal assembling. It has a cup/bottle holder and a little storage. The chair expands upwards easily by using a hand lever on the back. The head restraints are also adjustable.

Why only 2*? To use the recline feature, the chair base must fully be in contact with the seat. This means it cannot be used with smaller temporary seats, such as those in the rear row of a Zafira. Secondly, if the seat is fitted well (e.g., with little or no movement) then the seat cannot physically recline without being removed from the car first. Basically the mechanism for reclining is not the back moving, but the front leading edge moving up and down (only a few CM). It's the same as putting a small book under the front of the seat. A very poor design on what is otherwise a very nice chair.

5.0 out of 5 stars A basic yet brilliant toy, 11 Sep 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Amazing. There's so much pressure to buy all the expensive plastic junk when kids just love old style toys. This is basically strong cardboard boxes in a variety of sizes (the biggest are about a foot long). They are stronger than cardboard and are vividly coloured. The kids just love to build a wall and then smash it down with a car, or build a house or a set of steps to roll balls down. These are so good for the imagination, thinking skills and movement skills.

A basic yet brilliant toy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, does the job but shakes my head and no better than the "spinning head" style of brush, 11 Sep 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
For several years I've had a multitude of different Oral-B toothbrushes. They were are of the same basic design with the spinning circular head. I've been very pleased with all of them, even the cheaper ones that have less features. They all seem to last several years and the chargers are generally interchangeable.

This brush is similar in design, but the main difference is the head. It does not spin. The central sections bristles waggle from side to side and the end rotates from side-to-side on a differnet axis. Does it clean any better? Too be honest I'm undecided. All the Oral-B toothbrushes are excellent.

My main griupe with this is it makes my head shake, literally. It vibrates much more than the old style spinning head. It is also a little deaer. For this reason I only give 3* as in use I prefer the old style spinning head brush (which are often rediced to a bargain price).

Vax Performance Floor-2-Floor Total Home Eco Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Vax Performance Floor-2-Floor Total Home Eco Upright Vacuum Cleaner

1.0 out of 5 stars Ok if you live in a bungalow or never clean stairs and carpets!, 10 Sep 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Easy to assemble and light weight, the Vax is reasonable at sucking up debris. In the manual it says it's 1600w but on the label actually on the machine it says 750w. Interesting.

The main and HUGE criticism of this machine is that it is sold as "total home" but it does not have a long flexible tube so can only do a handful of stairs, unless you actually start to carry the vacumn up the stairs with you. In the images, you can even see where the tube should go, but obviously a different model actually has the long tube!

In conclusion ok if you live in a bungalow or never clean stairs and carpets!
