The Fundamentals of Architecture
The Fundamentals of Architecture
by Lorraine Farrelly
Edition: Paperback
Price: £25.18

5.0 out of 5 stars best book bought so far!, 19 Oct 2013
I've been buying quite a few books lately and have been reading reviews on all before I buy so want to give others a good idea of how the book rates.
Firstly... buy it! It is such a great introduction to architecture and covers so much. The quality of this book is great. I've bought a few which seem like they were just thrown out of the factory but this is top notch. Any student should buy this! It's hard to sum this book up with regards to its content as it is just packed... and in such detail also. Coming from the construction industry myself, Lorraine has got her facts spot on with regards to how architecture is realised on site, which I must say, other authors don't seem to really grasp the reality of the building process. Put it on your shelf!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction to topic ... worth reading!, 21 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is an excellent introduction to the topic. It covers how buildings are designed and the planning process. Follows on with starting from the first buildings ever built and how they change over time. The designers, architects and key features of different styles and eras are covered in depth and really enable you to appreciate the design... and if a building is just a building or if it is architecture. Great book to start you off in the subject.
