ABSOLOUTELY AMAZING!, 29 Dec 2006
I am so glad that I have found a website that I can share my sheer delight at reading this book by Gary BArlow.
I have to be honest, until this year I was never a true "Take That" fan. I went to their concert in June however and just found them to be amazing. I have one cd of theirs. That's it. I am so far beyond being one of those fanatical girls that you hear about camping outside their houses etc (they must be MAD!!)
For not a huge Take That fan I was so pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down!!! From beginning to end I felt that it was a truly honest and heart felt recount of Gary's life so far. It was incredibly truthful down to the various rifts between himself and certain band members. As I read, I felt like he was sitting in front of me telling the story.
The story made me really feel for him in parts. For all his money and fame he is just an ordinary guy under it all. Parts of the book where he spoke about meeting various celebrities just brought his fame so much to life for me. Yet he kept referring to the fact that he was just Gary, from Frodsham!!
I think it was his very conventional and everyday style of writing that made it so enjoyable! It wasn't full of RUBBISH which, let's face it, written by a guy who was in TAKE THAT for 6 years, it could have been!!!
The colloquial language of Northern England gives the book some very comical moments.
This book has really captured my attention and made my opinion of Gary and the rest of Take That change totally.
I really just LOVED the book and would recommend it to everyone!! SERIOUSLY, what a brill book! i couldn't recommend it more!!! He has worked hard to get where he is, and I admire Gary Barlow for this and see him in a totally new light.
