5.0 out of 5 stars PS4 is the best version to date, 15 Sep 2014
This is a cracking game on PS4. It runs so smoothly and benefits from the patches and added content of the older PC version. It also feels alot more intuitive to play on DS4 than it did with a mouse. Dodge rolls with the right stick and direct movement with the left stick is alot more responsive than the "click to move" pc mouse system. It feels bug free and runs as smooth as butter.

Well worth your time and money. The game keeps on giving, every few minutes you are picking up new gear, skills, runes and expanding your enjoyment. despite what some have said, it has a really good story too, if you take the time to listen and talk to the npc's. Highly recommended

4.0 out of 5 stars Polished but lacks ambition, 10 Sep 2014

Polished, but lacks ambition.

It's a very well made and tested first person shooter. despite the marketing hype, it's lacking in role playing elements and gameplay variety. There's little here other than shooting aliens, repackaged into a number of modes. It is a decent game and well worth playing as long as you don't fall for the hype and expect it to be much more than a paint by numbers shooter.

What it does, it does extremely well....it just lacks ambition. 4 explorable areas really doesn't cut it for a game that has spent so long in development and had such a huge budget.

However, if FPS games are really your thing, then this is essential. If you are coming at it from an mmorpg or rpg background then I think you'll be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good value pc for the money, 9 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A really good value pc for the money. It looks impressive, is very quiet and runs well for a mid-range computer. I had it up and running within half an hour, nice and simple with no real need to update any drivers. I bought this for my son to play World of Warcraft on, it does that admirably running on high settings at 40-50 fps most of the time. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Xcom Gets Better, 16 Jan 2014
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Possibly the best game on PS3 - and without doubt the best strategy game on console.

It's basically the same as the original game with added maps, medals, mecs, armour, items, 2 new enemies, gene boosts and the terrorist organisation Exalt. If you liked the original game, then you will love this as it's the same great formula fleshed out with more options and customisation and a greater variety of locales.

It's still unusual in that the first 3 months of the game are much harder to survive than the next 3 months. I suppose that makes sense with your increasing tech tree, but odd for a video game. As for bugs, I only saw one when accusing a country of harbouring the Exalt base. Iron man is a challenge, but if you do that make sure you backup your save game incase it goes pear shaped.

Highly recommended, 50 hours of pleasure

4.0 out of 5 stars Where is the China Rising DLC Code?, 30 Nov 2013

I pre-ordered this back in September for my PS4, Amazon's advert at the time promised the China Rising DLC code as a pre-order bonus.

But, there's nothing in the box??? No DLC code?

Come on Amazon, sort it out - that code is worth £12 on the PSN store

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game, 24 Dec 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Far Cry 3 (PS3) (Video Game)
This has to be one of the best open world FPS games ever made (GTA, Just Cause etc are TPS).

The environment that they have created is exceptional - the flora and fauna really turn it into an engaging and believable tropical island. Considering the amount of vegetation being drawn at any one moment, the draw distance and frame rate are superb for a PS3 game. I can't think of an openworld game on PS3 that runs better, considering how much is on screen.

The AI of both the pirates and the animals is also very good, clearing a pirate outpost with stealth alone is a real challenge. Completing everything the game has to offer could easily swallow up 100 hours of your time. Collecting memory cards, relics, WW2 letters, Rakyat missions, vehicle time trials, bird shooting, poker, knife throwing, main missions, radio towers etc - the amount of content is huge. The RPG elements such as building your skills via a tatoo and creafting syringes (powerups) and bags (ammo and loot) really gives an FPS a bit of depth. The main missions, 38 in total offer up some interesting story and character elements and also unlock your skills - although they are a little bit too drug induced for my liking. You'll also love the first time you get pounced on by a tiger, shark or croc - I nearly jumped out of my skin !!

It's not perfect - I would have liked to have seen a greater variety of vehicles, maybe planes, tanks and helicopters to add to the hang gliders. Also, a return of the mortar from AC2 - or even air strikes or artillery would have added a bit to the game.

Overall though, it's easily one of the best openworld games out there. As for the comments below - the only time that you are restricted or on rails is during a main mission - the rest of the time you are free to roam and hunt as you please.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Remake, 30 Oct 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This is easily the best strategy title on PS3.

Everything I could say has already been said in the previous reviews. If you loved the original Xcom, then you won't be disappointed with this - it's a modern day reworking. The difficulty levels are quite high, even on Easy the game is similar to default difficulty on other titles. Ironman/Impossible is just that - impossible :-)

I just hope that the DLC turns out to be substantial enough, as the Elite soldier pack and the rumoured slingshot DLC both seem a bit lightweight.

Highly recommended though and well worth the money. As for others getting lockups - I've played it for around 50 hours now and not had a single crash

5.0 out of 5 stars Best MP on PS3, 16 May 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: StarHawk (PS3) (Video Game)
This has to be the most fun and deepest multiplayer experience on PS3. It's very tactical and varied in style requiring thought as much as brawn and twitch shooter skills. The Prospector co-op mode is also a fun addition. Lightbox interactive has promised free additional DLC maps, so it's future looks good. It's a pity that Sony haven't put more effort into marketing and advertising of this title.

It has a steep learning curve, but if you stick with it then it's the most immersive, rewarding MP experience on the PS. Singleplayer is little more than an advanced tutorial for the other modes - so don't expect a Mass Effect 3 type experience. The game is a pure online title with a bolted on singleplayer that's fun for a few hours but nothing more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Aim Lag In 720p Needs Fixing, 12 Nov 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This will be a great game once Dice fix the horrible aim lag present when playing at 720p. If you drop the rez to 576p the aim lag disappears and it plays like Bad Company 2.

It's a 5 star game if it gets fixed. Currently I am having to play it at 576p to get high KDR's, the problem with that is of course the game is ugly.

Pretty amazing really that Dice can release an FPS with wonky aiming, it's a bit like releasing a new car and forgetting the wheels.

This game is fantastic, but you will only realise that once you pump plenty of hours into the game. It's the best racing game you have played. Ignore the Microsoft owned commercial media, they will obviously slam the game as it's a PS3 exclusive. Same goes for the jealous xbox fanboys.
