5.0 out of 5 stars Bang on and nail on the head!, 12 Mar. 2007
PC Copperfield writes of the daily struggle to do a difficult job I did for many years with year on year failing sucess and enthusiasm. With the Tory Government of Thatcher and their bumptious and pointless Home Secretary Clarke who destroyed the pay and conditions of the police (in true Thatcher style, plainly she preferred the company of criminals in her government and family with her son) to the equally dishonest and even more pointless "Nu" Labour we are now faced with a demoralised police force under attack from a well financed "underclass" who fools in the government and social services listen to. Riven with worries of racism, sexism and every other "ism", a blinkered and cheaply hired prosecution body and a hostile press we are left with a police force that is no longer effective and has become an instrument not of justice but social meddling and tinkering. An excellent read describing a country in decline and some of the fools that fiddle whilst it does.

Server+ Certification Exam Cram (Exam SKO-002) (Exam Cram 2)
Server+ Certification Exam Cram (Exam SKO-002) (Exam Cram 2)

5.0 out of 5 stars Seems to have all the information required!, 2 Dec. 2005
Exam Crams are always useful and go into sufficient depth provided that you have a good grounding in the technology behind the Exam Topics. At this time apart from courses and "googleing" the net this is the only collected study guide I know of for the Server+ 2005 Exam....more to follow no doubt?
If you have a couple of years under your belt with servers I'd say that this guide will get you through. If not you really need a bit more backround reading. Hewlett Packard do a number of online and downloadable courses. Their technologies relate quite a bit to the Server+ exam objectives and they also have a book HP Proliant Servers AIS study guide ISBN 0131467174 and available from this site. This may help to fill in the gaps.
I would also presume that you had taken and passed CompTIA's A+ exam and either CompTIA's Network+ or Prosofts TIA Convergence Technology Professional or at least the first exam in Cisco's CCNA qualification (Exam #640-821). Again all the study books and sources are availble from this web site. PC architecture and network related matters are really a must for Server+.
I have also found that as a supplement to Server+ and complimentary are the SNIA SCP (#S10-100) and SCSE (#S10-200) Storeage Area Network exams and qualifications. Their site [...] has a mass of information on matters that the Server+ exam is heavy on i.e SCSI and backups and their are several recommended books available again on this site.
On the whole if you are familiar with the Exam Cram 2 format then go ahead and cram, book the exam and pass, at the time of writing there are a number of Exam price "deals" to encourage you to take the exam and if you use the HP study stuff as well you should also be prepared for two cheap HP Exams for HP ASP and HP AIS Certifications as well not forgetting SNIA. The makings and start of a good career I think! Best of luck!

You can pass the Microsoft exam 70-227 on this book alone! Nuff said!

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight and to the point., 26 July 2004
The author makes the point that if you want to "know" Windows 2000 Networks then you have got the wrong book. This book is designed to get you to pass the exam. Which it will! Buy it, read it and pass it! Five stars recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nail on the head - a hit!, 26 July 2004
I bought this book in conjunction with "How to Get a New Life" by Elsey and Coombes ISBN 056352118X. The BBC book for the straight advice and this book for the tales through others eyes. A wealth of information from both at a minimal cost. If your heart is abroad then commit you wallet as well, do your research and say goodbye to an old tired Britain bereft of ideas and life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Go West Old Men (and Women), 26 July 2004
This review is from: How to Get a New Life (Hardcover)
There is nothing wrong with this book at all and it gives not only a good structure and framework to plan your move but it also does it in a clear and concise manner. The exclusion of the US and Canada or for that matter Timbuktu is immaterial to the type of plans you should be laying. But if you are buying just remember that these countries are not covered, some in Britain might find this a blessing as many are desperately trying to flee the "McDonalds culture". If you follow the advice herein then your venture or adventure abroad will be less likely to be fraught with problems. Five stars and recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every PC or Network Should Have One, 28 Dec. 2003
This review is from: Virtual CD 4 (CD-ROM)
This software is a complete must. I am constantly having to update my IT skills and CD Roms with the information I need is the way to go. A big Hard Disk of 120 or 180Mb can be obtained for well under £100. So uploading your collection of CD's or DVD's (up to 23) for instant access is no problem at all. The originals can be put away for safe keeping and everything is at your fingertips at the speed of a Hard Disk not a CD or DVD Rom.
I do not condone any form of piracy at all but I also think having paid for the contents of the disk I should be able to store it for my consumption as I please and at my convienience. Virtual CD - now in version 5 and with a Network Version for in house produced CD's - is a must and brilliant quality. Recommended!!!

Cisco CCNP Remote Access Exam Certification Guide (Cisco Certification & Training)
by Craig Dennis
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Good but be up to the mark before you tackle it., 8 Jun. 2001
This is a good example of a Cisco Press book which expects a professional audience. It is concise to a point. If you need some more alternative coaching go to Sybex or Syngress but to pass the exam come back here.

4.0 out of 5 stars The usual SYBEX well informed publication., 8 Jun. 2001
This review is from: Server+ Study Guide (Hardcover)
The first thing you are told with this book is that if your A+ or Network+ then you are 20 per cent there with this certification. I would agree and say that this book is well laid out and comes from a well respected publishing source. If your not A+ or N+ then I would say you will struggle and you should read around a bit before you try Server+. The book does assume a good knowledge of PC's and more concentrates (as you would expect)on the more Server-Centric details as RAID, Backup, Processor Upgrade and Troubleshooting. If you have been around and dealing with hands on hardware/software PC's and Server Support in a Network Environment for the last year then buy, read and pass. If you are short of any of those qualifications then look to A+ and Network+ before you come here. The included CD is above the usual standard.
