3.0 out of 5 stars Light hearted froth for beach reading, 21 July 2015

Fun short read between other more weighty books. Lost its way towards the end when the author was no longer in France. Felt a bit like it was padding. Then suddenly seemed to end. Fine to fill a couple of hours.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great period drama viewing, 9 July 2015
Gentle viewing entertainment with a great cast and period drama storylines that make light hearted viewing. Enjoyed Series 1 a little better than 2 but something I know the whole family will watch again some time in the future

2.0 out of 5 stars Loved the title. But not the book, 20 Jun. 2015

This is really a diary posing as a book. And unfortunately a tedious one at that. Afraid I couldn't make it beyond the 20% mark as it just didn't come across as interesting. Shame, as the concept was a good one - 2 people who can't sail set off to go round the world. There are many, many better books about people's sailing adventures than this one. Glad it was free.

A book made up entirely of cliches. Not that I can truly comment about the end as l didn't go that far. A ludicrous set of "plots" and characters every single one of which was drop dead gorgeous. One of the most ridiculous things I'v tried in a long time and definitely only for those who love characters who "drawl" an annoying word that is repeated constantly through the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure who who's craziest..., 2 Feb. 2015

Me for reading, author for dreaming up mad senario, or the books characters. The good reviws and the fact it was short kept me reading but the style was amateurlike and none of the characters rounded. The spoken words could have come from any of them cept the nuts old lady who at least had a different vocab. Not helped it had many mistakes in as if the author wrote and published without checks. I give 3 stars not less as least was thoughtprovoking

1.0 out of 5 stars Truly dreadful. The most amateur writing I have ever come across., 25 Jan. 2015

The 1st few chapters of this seemed ok - light hearted chicklit. It quickly deteriorated into nonsensical rubbish. The plot lines were ludicrous. The main character just plain stupid and hysterical. And as for the number of spelling mistakes, bad grammar and punctuation! I have never, ever come across a book with so many mistakes. It's as if the author wrote it then uploaded it immediately without bothering to re-read what she had written and edit it in any way. Incredibly amateurish. Thank goodness it was at least free. How it has so many good reviews will remain an absolute and utter mystery to me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Absolute mess of a book - what were her publishers thinking?, 14 Jan. 2015

Hard to believe this was written by the once wonderful romance writer, Cathy Kelly. It is one of the most badly constructed and awful books I've read for a long time. I persevered simply because I couldn't believe it would stay so dreary. Unfortunately it did. The plot if you can call it such a grand thing as it is completely pathetically ridiculous and weak as a 2 day old kitten. The cast of characters is as long as your arm. Many are side roles brought in for a brief mention and with no bearing whatsoever on the story.Made me think Kelly was being paid by the word on this one as there was so much unnecessary padding throughout. It is hard to keep track as to who on earth is who and what the hell they have to do withthe plot as each character is identical in as much as they are completely one dimensional. Some really stupid errors in it - I guess theeditors fell asleep with boredom too and failed to spot them. Prime example is Grace is described as being 5ft 7 and 5ft 5. All within the very same chapter. Seriously, take it from me and don't waste several hours of your life on this when there are thousands of decent books out there.

Enjoyed this book, a few hours read on a chilly afternoon. The plot was slightly annoying at times - why do people not TALK to each other but jump to ridiculous conclusions and screw their lives up for a while as a result?? As a reader it was perhaps too easy to see what would happen. But it was very well written and put together. Recommended read.

2.0 out of 5 stars What's happened to Marian Keyes??, 1 Jan. 2015

A very odd book from a terrific author. It was hard to believe it was her writing as it was so incredibly disappointing. The timelines are all over the place, skipping back and forth and very confusing at times. Sections are headed Me, Him, Her yet there seemed little differentiation in content between them as they all continued the same story. The characters didn't seem real, the plot was plain daft and it all just seemed a very amateurish muddle. I hope she goes back to her original form and style in forthcoming books

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs to make up its mind what it is, 30 Dec. 2014

This just didn't gel with me at all and I was glad it was only something like 99p and I got it on special offer. The opening tries far too hard for its own good and is strained in its attempts at wit. It then goes off on a different tack and morphs into some sort of self help / advice type book with lists of advice for stuff. I just didn't 'get' the point of it. Not sure what it was trying to do and gave up at 32% mark.
