2.0 out of 5 stars Off the cutting room floor ???, 24 April 2012
This review is from: Blunderbuss (Audio CD)
Lets get a few things straight :-

1 - This is NOT anywhere near the best LP of Jacks fantastic career !

2 - I can provide you with 13 better B-Side tracks which are better than any of the songs chosen for "BLUNDER buss".

3 - The style of songs probably relates to the tough year he has had. If you want to stare at a glass of bourbon, then Leonard Cohen does it better. If you want the fun , jump around humourous and guitar playfulness of the "Racs", then this is not it either. Infact I have no idea, and it seems neither does Jack, know where he wants this to go.

4 - Where are these great lyrics as stated above? Have you listened to the B side tracks of Conquest ? Will there be enough water ( one of the best songs EVER written )? There is no Isis, no Black Jack Davey story telling which we all so adore about Jack and how he can take a cover or create an original and make it flow so well. "BLUNDER buss" is an uncomfortable collection of songs and styles which upsets me. At 9.01am I was happy by 9.45am I was crying for the man.

5 - Look at the cover and it shows the disjointed thinking that is found within the LP. Dark / Blue Jack ( ok he's abit upset ), the cd has a white peacock on it ... got it! He's going to use his BLUNDER bus to kill the peacock. Right so I take out the cd to find an old picture of a an old RAF chap with a leather flying hat and cigar ( cool picture ). OK, Now I am confused ? Does he own the peacock or is he going to shoot it with his BLUNDER bus ???
When Jack produces product there is a style and look to it.... need I say any more?

6 - I have seen Jack in all groups worldwide. He is one of my idols. Sometimes idols fall... is this a turning point ???

Hope you can come back Jack with Small faces, Jack the Ripper, Do, Cannon, Pain and a 1000 other better songs.

As for saying the less successful Dead Weather...At the time they played the Roundhouse ( last uk gig ) they were the best live act in the world - FACT - just ask the audience who were there !

Good luck for the future Jackie boy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent men on their flyin boards, 7 Nov 2009
This is an amazing account of how the Hawaii wild west surf scene was busted open ! The Australian guys who took on the scene and won and how thrilling the story is ! Great footage, stills and an amazing story thrown in. Well worth watching and leaves me in awe of what the guys had to do and how far they went in order to succeed.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit cheesy ????, 25 Mar 2008
This review is from: Consolers Of The Lonely (Audio CD)
The first reviewer was correct - a real mix of songs and I am sad to say alot of B sides ! Many of the songs have the same pattern with the quiet then loud / slow to fast and back all in one song ( sometimes I justed wanted a straight forward song without the extras ). Nice try lads but I think you got a bit lost on the way. From a first day listen not sure I get it. Sorry.
