I finished this book with great difficulty and only did so in order to write a review. It did not surprise me that the writer's partner had been having affair. He had probably had enough of the relentless complaining and endless negativity. How does anyone expect to go to Spain with no language and find it easy? Why would anyone be surprised to feel like they were living in a retirement home when they had bought a villa in a community of English speaking people well away from a town? Why would anyone move to a country without enquiring about health care? Why would anyone be surprised that they had been burgled in a community wher many of the homes are empty holiday homes. The writer has nothing to say about the very warm and friendly Spanish people, the wealth of culture, tradition and art, the architecture or food. In fact the only facet of Spanish life of which they have knowledge is bureaucracy. I would not advise anyone to read this in advance of going to Spain. Read something with objective facts rather than subjective and whiney complaints.

This is without doubt the best book I have read in some time. It is completely absorbing from beginning to end. I cannot wait to read the second part of the trilogy.

Very difficult to use and also very difficult to see. A complete waste of money. I had to buy another book.

It took me some time to get into this book. The moment I did however I couldn't put it down.It took me about a week to read the first fifty pages and a day to read the rest.

This is an excellent cookbook. Paul flynn writes very well and is highly entertaining. I have cooked a number of recipes all of which have worked well. particularly good is the banana gingerbread dessert. I adapted it slightly and used a black bush whisky honey.

If you love food or you love Spain then this is a fantastic book. If you love Spain and food then this the perfect book

I very much agree with another review of this novel, in that it is hard to believe that it is the 1980s and not the 1940s. This aside it is a very well written and engaging novel. It does take some time to get into it since it's a story of waiting and transition.

If you love Fannie Flagg you will love Billie Letts. Not quite so feel good but maybe less cliched for all that

This is an excellent book for anyone who has been newly appointed to hoy.
It is very comforting. I have also used several pieces of advice successfully. Few people receive training in this post therefore this is a kind of training manual
