Redemption Blues: A Crime Thriller
Redemption Blues: A Crime Thriller
Price: 1.99

3.0 out of 5 stars A good story but not a thriller, 2 Feb 2014
This book is quite a good read, but not one of the best. The writing was intelligent and detailed and the idea was intriguing. I think it would make a great screenplay in fact. But I did find bits of it plodding and the progression of the plot was predictable - the relationship between 2 of the main characters particularly. I wouldn't call it a crime thriller, there wasn't a mystery to solve nor were there any clever plot twists, so I felt some of the reviews overpromised and underdelivered! A good story about some people affected by a very tragic accident, is how I'd describe it.

1.0 out of 5 stars appalling, 7 Dec 2013
This review is from: Secrets and Lies (Kindle Edition)
Poorly written, feeble story. Don't bother. I persevered, hoping that there would be something in the plot that might turn this into something either thrilling or clever - but there wasn't.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unmitigated rubbish, 1 Aug 2013
This review is from: Nameless (Kindle Edition)
As other reviewers comment, the volume, brevity and similarity of rave reviews for this story should raise suspicion.

I very rarely give up on a book but this one is truly awful. The characters are implausible, the dialogue laughable, the use of graphic violence is crass. Don't waste your time or money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful resource, 4 Jun 2010
Useful and up to date - a comprehensive general reference. I would recommend this if you are only going to get one book. Deals with freelance/sole trading and partnerships as well as limited companies, and gives useful critique of the differences between these different forms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary and vibrant; Cuban music at its best, 16 May 2000
This review is from: A Toda Cuba le Gusta (Audio CD)
Strolling past a stall at Womad festival in summer 1999, I had one of those experiences where you hear a piece of music playing and you drop everything and rush to find out what it was. My top record of 1999, the unbelievable discipline of these top cuban artists produces a fat sound and cracking rhythmn so tight and yet so full of life, you can't avoid getting hooked. The definitive cuban sound, not to be missed.
