Maximum Linux Security: A Hacker's Guide to Protecting Your Linux Server and Network
Maximum Linux Security: A Hacker's Guide to Protecting Your Linux Server and Network
by Anonymous
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent starting point in linux security., 14 Mar. 2001
This book is written very precise, and is a valuable reference guide to every topic covered in it. It brings you up to speed with everything you need, and want to know about linux related security matters. Why only 4 stars, when it is so valuable? Well, for one and only reason: the successor is due to come out some time this year, and it will certainly provide more up-to date information. I can only recommend this book to anyone interested in security, for private or business purposes. Excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for any linux newbie, covers various subjects., 8 Mar. 2001
This review is from: Running Linux (Paperback)
Well, this is a great book to start with. Any linux newbie will surely appreciate the amount of topics covered in it. But this book is not ment to be a problem solver or a setup guide. It's main focus is to explain in brief the concept of linux, setting it up and various other topics, including examples how to do it. Some will find lack of in-depth information somewhat annoying, but most will find it usefull as a general purpose guide. If you're new to linux, this is THE book you'll want to read. And, it is not distribution-specific, so whatever linux distro you're using, you can't go wrong with this book.
