Worse Printer I've Ever Owned., 28 Dec 2011
I have used Epson printers happily for more than 15 years without any problems, until now.
I purchased this to replaced an Epson R300 (because Epson didn't issue Windows 7 drivers) and an Epson Pefection 2400 scanner.
I just could not get the first one received to install and after over 4 hours on the phone with Epson Tech Support (at 10p/min - rip off, after first hour they should offer call back) they suggest that I returned it.
There was no problem with Amazon replacing it.
Second one - Print would only operated in Windows XP compatibility mode for two well known image programs, Corel PhotoPlus and Adobe PhotoShop.
Scan refused to recognise Microsoft Word 2010 and even worse, Abby Fine Reader Sprint included with the printer software.
After 2 more hours on phone with Epson Tech Support (?), four emails; download of all drivers etc from Epson web site; four complete un-installs, including all registry entries; four 'clean' re-installs and using four different USB ports, with no improvement, both I and Epson gave up. Their only suggestion was to take the printer and my system to an Epson repair centre (no chance).
Interestingly nobody at Epson would commit themselves regarding Windows 7 64 bit operation.
I can also echo a comment about the paper pick-up, very hit and miss, despite how carefully paper size is set up. Less than approx 20 sheets you can get a 'paper jam' report and at times it will 'spit out' two sheets, top one printed, bottom one blank.
Printer now on its way back.
