This review is from: The Krays [DVD] [1990] (DVD)
The 1989 film, the krays still astounds me today. after seeing it 3 years ago on tele, it is still one of the best britsh films i have seen for years. it deffinatly levels up with, Long Good Friday and A clockwork orange in its Violent Content, but still excellent.
the story follows the lives of the Kray Twins played wonderfully by the Kemp brothers - known for Spandaul Ballet and Martin in Eastenders. Gary Kemp gives an excellent insight into Ronnie, Into his violent behaviour, his short fuseness and his homosexuality. One interesting scene involves ronnie, after winning a boxing match, stareing at his brother to come and fight him. naturally it turns into a blood bath as everything seems to in this film! the film then continues allthe way to there arrest in 1969, leaving the film on the deaths of the 2 people the krays Murder. the film includes very bloody scenes such as a snooker hall fight in which ronnie puts a sword thru some one hand!!!!
its a must have video for gangster fans. and at this price, BUY NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gabriels First Film Score, 30 Nov. 2004
In 1984, Alan Parker Asked gabriel whether he would be interested in writing a score for his film about friendship during the Nam war, Birdy. Gabriel quickly discovered that the film created atmosphere of Claustraphobia. he then uses this within his work. Gabriel was also interested in reworking his earlier ideas and in this album he reworks, 5 Tracks from his 1980 album 3 and 1982 album 4. The Fairlight Synthisizer features hugely in this album and creates an atmosphere not creatable from organic instruments.
Gabriel Certainly in this album shows the now how to create atmosphere, feelings and even fear within his music. this is certainly a mini project against his epic 'Passion- The score from the last temptation of Christ' - 2 Thumbs Fresh! Keep them Coming!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gota Passion for Gabriel now, 26 Nov. 2003
After the success of 'so' it would had been obvious that gabriel was going to go for a commercial success, but he defied everything by going for a soundtrack album. alltho soundtracks sell like anything, proper soundracks(score music) hardly sells. but with this, gabriel strikes platinum with his best contempery album. as the film was set in the holy land, Gabriel uses the instruments of that country very well, he blends it with that of synths, keyboards and drum machines. and in the moments where his voice begins to take a role, it inlightens thats of the haunting serenity. he took his voice as another instrument not a lyrical means of support. on the track 'A Different Drum' his vocals are imence, he creats a totaly differnt Genre.
This album at this price is a total Bargain, i would advise any one who is a fan of 'Chill-Out' or 'Soundtrack Music' to Buy it.
